  • "N... No wonder it's so painfully expensive..."

Kor made to step forward, only to hesitate, looking uncertainly at his shoes, then the floor.
This seems like the place, but...
He shook his head, heading for the first place to sit down, a couch.

No, if I need a quick escape, leaving my shoes behind would be a dead giveaway.

"So, er... I guess this is where we start talking."
But now he had another problem, lack of conversation topics.

    --------------------------------------------

"Word of advice, pal" Said Master general Arratay, who snuck up behind Yuushio. "When the big guy's about to do something, you listen to him and stay back."
The area the group had entered seemed unnaturally dark and gloomy, even for a cavern. They weren't even that far from the entrance!
The only reason the group could see at all was the fact that Alden was using a fireball as a source of light.

    *Crunch!*
    "YOW!"

Arratay suddenly found himself howling in pain, hopping on one foot while holding the other.
"That's what you get for going barefoot." Said Tanis, her expression surprisingly deadpan.

What the master general had stepped on, was apparently.
    "Bones...?" Said Alden.

Indeed, bones and other remains of beastfolk seemed to litter the ground.
"This is no tomb of our making" Said Magnus. "We prefer cremation, not leaving our dead around for necromancers to use. Keep your weapons at the ready."

You know, most people call me insane...
That's what happens when I try to reason with people, they don't like it, and I eventually end up turning them to charcoal in the end...

Why are you looking at me like that?

Despite popular belief, I did not draw the avatar I'm using. I can't draw.
  • OOC: Time for a well-placed revival. [Hopefully]

IC: "So..." Tristam started, barely reacting to Sahrah's obvious showing of affection, save for a slight smile.

    Damn my poor conversational skills!

"I... can't think of anything to talk about. C'mon, help me out here."
Great, I must sound like a complete moron. Find a room for a private chat, and I can't even find a subject to talk about.

    ---------------------

As the party continued on through the darkness, Arratay being especially careful not to pierce his foot on anymore skeletons, the Kria doll suddenly perked up.
"I recognize this area! Watch your step, this place is trapped to hell and back!"

Right as she said that, however, Tanis had already triggered a trap. There was a loud click as she instantly jumped back, narrowly avoiding the lethal-looking spikes that shot out of the ground and ceiling.
"Pressure plates and tripwires." The doll said. "Everywhere. Keep your eyes peeled. There should be a branching path up ahead, go right if you want to find the real me."

  • S: She fidgets slightly.
"Well.... Ummm........ I don't really have anything I want to talk about either......"
She blushes and buries her face in Tristam's shoulder.

Y: Continues floating and sends out a gentle pulse of air, revealing any tripwires and pressure plates, lighting them with a soft, blue glow.
    "Do not touch the shinies."
  • EPIC REVIVE (because MIB) <-(Mystery Is Bored)
    Also new type of character.

Name: April del Rivèra (Or, as she calls herself, Midnight)
    Species: Kitsune
Age: ((Dammit, I need to guess.)) 24
    Gender: Female
    Academy of your choice: Magic
    Area of study: Dark magic
Appearance: Zoinks! Only changes I am making is that she wears some balck clothes and her face is hidden under a Kitsune mask.
Personality: When she takes of her mask she's April, the shy but smart student. Amazing analytic sense. Friendly. Sometimes with a bit too much energy. She loves friends. But when she puts on her mask, she's Midnight, the ghost of the ruins. Fearless murderer, necromancer, is known as a witch. Doesn't trust anybody.
Weapon: Pair of magic tuning gloves.
Power: Can transform into a fox. With no specific color.
Other: Locked up in a coffin, never to be found again inside the ruins. Oh. Yeah, and before she got locked up in that coffin she had a boyfriend, Corese. Don't think she is very happy when she gets to know what happened in the past decades.

Theme (I'm bored, so music.): This Is How I Roll - Savant (I'm wayyy too obsessed with him ><;;)

  • OOC: No probs.
A heavy, dark voice calls from the darkness.
"Thou who are entering the catacombs of the Everlasting Night, beware. Turn around and you will be spared. If Thou decides to still enter, then Thou must face the wrath of Midnight."
    Then, everything becomes quiet.
  • OOC: I'm just going to assume your character is interacting with the beastfolk, Mystery.
As for my other character (Tristam), I'll get back to him in the next post.

IC: While Arratay and Rye may have jumped about a foot into the air, Alden was the one to step forward despite the mysterious voice's threat.

"And if you intend to stand in our way, then know this. Your end will not be a pleasant one." He said.
The fox reached for the blade at his side, pulling it from it's scabbard easily. The sword, while shining somewhat in the dim light, was otherwise rather normal as far as long-swords go these days.
"If you wish to fight, then I will be your opponent. Come, and face the might of a guardian!"

"Go get 'em, champ." Tanis whispered to her brother as he took another step forward.

The fake Kria, however, looked confused despite not having a real face.
Odd... I don't remember this being here before...

  • "As Thou wishes." the voice said. "Have this bit of advice though; Thou do NOT want to face the guardian of the one you seek. And Thou don't want to wake... Her." Then, a large shadow crawled up and fell down on a bunch of skeletons. The pile began to shudder and the dead stood up once more. A black fire surround them, like a force commanding them what to do. A soft, cold voice, seemingly from a girl, echoed from the back of the ruins. "Kill them. But leave the doll. I want to have it... "
  • Rye's eyes widened upon hearing the second, softer voice.
No... It can't be her, can it?

"I swear, if some humongous idiot up and decided to possess Kria, I am going to murde-"
"Cool it, kid, we'll find out once fox-boy over there roasts these suckers.

Speaking of Alden, he glared at the rising undead with a disapproving expression.
"Hiding behind the bones of the dead... How cowardly."
He then raised his left hand high, a red glow in his palm.

Tanis and the Kria doll, immediately noticing this, worked to provide shielding to the party from whatever magic Alden was going to cast.

A snap of the fingers was heard, and before anyone knew it, the entire cavern was filled with a roaring flame.
Meaning, it was everywhere. In an open environment, it would've been a simple explosion. In a cavern, the results were much more potent.

And so, the battle had ended before it had truly begun, the skeletons reduced to ash and scattered through the cavern.

"Either face us yourself, or not at all."

-Meanwhile, a few thousand miles away...-

A large blue drop of sweat was visible on the back of Tristam's head.
    "Awkward." He said.

I get a room so we can talk, and all we can do is gawk awkwardly at each other!

While he was mentally cursing, the half demon could feel a headache coming on. Abaddon must be getting restless.

  • OOC: That moment when you type a story and you accidentally click the reset button.

The low, cold voice spoke again. This time, however, it was talking fast. "Please, you don't want to get her mad! Get outta here before--" The voice stopped abruptly. A slashing sound filled the cavern. Then a shadow came hopping to the entrance. Not a skeleton, but an old man. "Run!" He yelled. Then, for the second time, the slashing sound filled the cavern again. The man stood for a second. Then he fell. A second shadow walked to the entrance. A large one with a white mask. The mask was filled with anger. Or it seemed so. Then, the soft girl voice said:
Who is it to disturb the sleep of Midnight the Black? Who even dares to enter these ruins, supposed to be damned till eternity? The shadow pulled out a pair of gloves, radiating a purple light. Then the voice turned into a harsh, echoing one.
    Speak!
  • "Oh good, it's not her." Said a certain wolf-man in relief.

Alden, though, did not look so relaxed. And for that matter, neither did the doll.

"That wasn't here when we moved in! My master never knew anything about this thing!"
    Said doll whispered frantically.

Alden, ignoring the doll's panicked whispering, and the crazy old man, stepped forward.
"Our names are not currently importance. Someone of great value to us has been stolen away. We have reason to believe that she is here. Step aside, and there will be no trouble. Stand in our path, and I will break you."

The fiery red glow in the fox's eyes showed that he would make good on his threat if he didn't get his way.

Despite the confidence the guardian captain was showing, Arratay stepped closer to Yuushio, whispering a message.
"Be ready to step in. If I'm reading this chick right, this could get ugly."

  • A laugh filled the room. Oh the two of you are so naive. The one who lived here before is now in a deep... Deep sleep. Not waking up too. And I'm here to protect her so that a bunch of mortals can't just go and get her. I was supposed to be locked up. With you breaking the seal, I can just go and get some blood flowing. It pointed at them with seemingly a finger. I'm free. But I didn't forget about the person who lived here. She was someone who understood me... A cracking sound was heard and the mask got a burst, looking like a tear. Then it made some kind of mark and a portal was opened. The thing put a hand though and pulled out a black scythe. I will never forget her. And a pair of nuts who think they can just enter these ruins are not going to stop me.
  • "The one who...? Are you talking about my former master?" Said the doll. "Short, female, has horns?"
To her surprise, Magnus put a hand on her shoulder, interrupting her before she could elaborate further.
"It's pointless. This specter won't bother listening much longer."

"We're not leaving, you stupid ghost!" Rye yelled. "Not without Kria!"

"It's like he says." Said Alden. "Last chance to change your mind. I've been incredibly patient so far, but you're asking for a fight."
"And besides." The guardian captain actually dared to smirk. "I know my weapons, that scythe is no good in a real fight."

His expression quickly returned to neutral, though. "Well? I'm not going to wait forever. Attack already, if that's your intention."

You know, most people call me insane...

  • Yes. Who else. the voice said. If I actually was thinking about what would happen to me when I stayed with her, I wouldn't be discussing here with you.
Then he faced to the big guardian.
    Oh dear.
Look at what we got here.
A small guard, ready for a fight.
But he doesn't know this is beyond his might.
Not even the heroes who walked these lands,
would've stopped me with their bare hands.
When the darkness is stronger than the light,
Life will fade away at the first sight.
Don't bother with the dead and cursed,
They make wounds that can't be nursed.
Not in body, flesh and whole.
But ones that pierce right through your soul.

OOC: I've never thought I'd be so poetic.
IC: You don't want to leave? As you wish. But then... The scythe turned into a giant, purple sword. ...You will never.
  • "So that means you know the necromancer, and are siding with her. That makes this much easier."
The instant the "ghost" began to transform her weapon, Alden took action.

"SHINE!" He shouted, raising his blade and causing a blinding flash of light.
The guardian dashed forward, lunging into a quick thrust attack while the enemy was (hopefully) blinded.

"IDIOT!" He yelled, jumping back to avoid whatever counterattack Midnight might throw. "You pretty much just told me your weakness!"
"Holy arrows!" He then raised a hand in the air, and dozens of projectiles, made of pure holy light, shot straight at Midnight. "Light chases away dark beings like you!"

OOC: I believe this theme fits for this particular scene.

  • Fool. Darkness isn't going away with light. It's nothing. Just like YOU are nothing! The shadow disappeared in a dark mist, then appeared behind them. In the light of the entrance, they saw Midnight's true form.
A young girl, aging about 24, stood in the light with a mask on her face. A third voice was heard form her. "Help me."
The sword slashed through the air. Right through Rye's back. A massive, purple pulsing wound was left.
Then, she slammed on the rocks behind them, revealing a sturdy door. It slammed shut, making the cavern, except form the glowing mushrooms, pitch-black.
I think the three of you made a mistake coming here.
  • "Gwah!" Rye cried out upon being struck, falling to the ground from the strike.
The Kria doll did not react well. "Rye!" She called out, rushing over to him. "Are you alright?! Come on, say something!"
He coughed. "I'm not dead yet... I think I'll be fine..."

    Alden scoffed at the being.
"You need to get better at counting, there's eight of us in total (Not including Undine). Shall I add blindness to your list of weaknesses?"

With the attack on Rye, something in the group seemed to snap. Specifically, Tanis.
Calling forth a ball of light into her hand, she threw it at the ceiling, where it attached itself and began providing light.

As for the other beastfolk. Generals Magnus and Arratay, they would not stand idle any longer. The master general Arratay, drew from his sides two vicious hooked blades.
"So much for a proper, honorable duel, then." He said.
"If this being does not fight with honor, then, in this case, neither shall we." Said Magnus.
"Just make sure to use magic or battle energy. Ghosts aren't immune to those." Said the Master general.

Standing at each other's side, the Twins Alden and Tanis gave each other an almost imperceptible nod before Alden charged, his blade suddenly wreathed in blue flames from the support his sister was offering with her magic.
Right as the guardian captain reached midnight, slashing with his newly enchanted longsword, Arratay had appeared behind her, faster than the naked eye could perceive, attacking at the same time.
