    • Who wants to team up to create a horror game?

      First of all,
      Hi I'm new.

But lets get directly to business:

I recently watched pewds speech at the NoNick 2012, and was surprised to hear that he wants to create an own game.

I'm a hobby programmer with different variations of experience in VB.Net, Dark Basic, SQL, C++ and Java.
My goal always was to create a game, too.

Currently I'm stuck with Dark Basic, because that's what I made my first stuff with.
I don't have much interest in learning something harder, as long as I have to do it alone anyways.
That was always my problem, I never found anybody to team up with.

What I have in mind would be a high quality game for a very special audience.
I always wanted to create a game that is so horrifying, violent and disturbing, that you want to shut it down after some
minutes, because you just can't play it anymore :D.

Also, another goal for me always was to release this game for free, and make some profit with advertising on the website,
      maybe even IN the game.

I currently don't want to say to much, since I also don't have the time right now.

However, let me know if you are interested.

If anybody is interested we can talk about the programming languages, concepts and everything else.
I already have some things in mind.

Stay awesome bros! I know you will.

PS: Pewds ... if you should read this ... I'm not quite sure how high the chance is ... but still ... if you are interested, too, of
      course you're welcome. :D

      Blah, blah, blah...

I would be interested in working on some stuff. I'm able to do some 3d modeling, and I'm a pro with Photoshop. I'm also working on cracking the code on how to make horror game soundtracks, but I'm good with normal music, too. I think this would be a great idea to see put in motion.

EDIT: Re-reading your post, I noticed you use DarkBASIC, I honestly think Unity3d may work better (It has a simple learning curve and can produce some professional results).

If you are good with 3D-Modelling and Textures ( I guess you meant that with Photoshop ) ... then you have exactly those skills I'm lacking XD.
Unity3D may be a good idea, well, as I said ... If there is the chance to team up with some people we can choose something else.
To be honest Dark Basic sucks BIG time ... but it's easy as to use, that's why I was using it until now.

I should probably write down some of the concepts I thought about so far.

      EDIT:
I'm currently downloading the unity engine to check it out.
I can Make scary voices ... Good enough ? lol xD
To be honest, voice acting is one of the last things I would bother with, when creating a game. But voice acting is almost a must-have today.
So, if you can also do normal voices XD ... I guess that could help, too.

    • Ugh , I know some things that make people jump their asses off involving the enviroment/ambience etc. and I will follow a course of programming this year and then I will do an other course proceeding with gamedevelopment.

I also can do photoshopping, but I'm not so well on creating textures , well that actually depends on what kind of textures you want. I'm most of the time bored as hell so feel free to hook me up, since then I have something "useful" to do.

      :D(really i'm good spelling!)
Voice acting is mine :P your late bro.

one doesn't simply claim a position. Its his (OP's) choice if he picks you or not.
I was Joking Jeez lmao I know only myself can't take this position needs many more people i am not stupid lol.

    • Nice to see that so many people are interested.

      @Wheezkey
I don't know if something like the Unity3D engine is comparable to a "HF2 mod" ( My google skills didn't reveal what "HF" means XD ... so I'm guessing Half Life 2 ).
If you can program you can most likely do it in any programming language, I guess.

As I said ... I'm currently writing down what I had in mind ... with all aspects ... could take a while.
I'm not sure yet if I will include the story right away, because I think it's odd to reveal it to people who won't work on it in the end.

However, I'm open for improvement suggestions, but let me write this down first.

      EDIT:
I'm done writing down my ideas XD.
I included the story, because it's vital to know to understand other aspects of the concepts.
I hope nobody will just steal them  , but I guess it would take a long time to implement them somewhere anyways XD.

These are all ideas I gathered for my dream-game so far. Maybe I forgot to write down some of them, in that case I will add them tomorrow.
Maybe I will even have a dream this night with more ideas XD. Some of the ideas are actually coming from dreams.

Feel free to post improvement suggestions. But please, read it completely first, and then post suggestions in one post.

The document isn't exactly formatted too well XD ... but I guess it's okay.

PS: I hope you guys are using open office XD.
PPS: Well, I guess I broke the edit-your-post record.

      EDIT2:

I just thought of a name together with a friend of mine.
The prototype name for now is "Vicious Intentions". :D

    • I realized Unity3D has too many features that are "Pro-Version only", that I really don't want to use it anymore.
      They want to have 1.500$ ( or € ... doesn't really matter ).

So the best thing to use seems to be Unreal Engine -> UDK.

I haven't done anything with it yet, but I will do some tutorials now.

I saved the open office document as a ".doc" file, but I don't have MS-Office installed.
However, even if the formatting is worse now XD, I guess it's ok.

Unreal Script looks a lot like C++, so I guess it won't be a problem.
However, since I never even made a mod for any unreal game, the whole system is completely new to me XD.
