JUDGING AND SELECTION OF THE PROMOTION WINNERS: During the Judging Phase all eligible Submissions received in the Promotion will be judged by a panel of judges from Sponsor ("Judges") to determine the ten (10) semifinalists. The Judges will score each Submission according to the following weighted judging criteria (collectively, "Judging Criteria"): (1) Creativity of Submission - 33%; (2) Relevance to PewDiePie - 34%; and (3) Originality of Submission - 33%. From the list of ten (10) semifinalist Submissions, PewDiePie will then select, in his sole and absolute discretion, the final three (3) Submissions that will be deemed the Promotion winners and for which their Submissions will be animated by Administrator. Administrator will notify each of the final three (3) winners prior to their respective Submissions being shown on the Website.

To the people complaining about 500 words - Look, Felix has 30 M+ subscribers , and I am sure many are over 18. The sponsors are going to be reading the fanfiction, so do you honestly think they want to read 2,000 fanfics (rough estimate - probably going to be more) that are over 1,000 to 3,000 words each? You get 5 fanfics to write. Do a word count on Microsoft Word, or whatever writing program you use to determine how many words you have typed out.

A "Drabble" in fanfiction terms: a short piece of writing that is usually no more than 1,000 words, but length is debatable.

Also, for the 18 years old rule: Legal reasons.

Definition of age of majority: The age at which a person, formerly a minor or an infant, is recognized by law to be an adult, capable of managing his or her own affairs and responsible for any legal obligations created by his or her actions.

So in other words: whatever your country deems you a legal adult is the writing age. Not necessarily 18.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all individuals who are the age of majority or older in their country and where the Promotion is permitted by law. The following individuals are not eligible: employees, contractors, directors and officers of PepsiCo, Inc., Pepsi-Cola Company, its bottlers, and each of their respective parent, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and each of their respective affiliates, officers, directors, agents and employees agents, representatives, distributors, web design, advertising, fulfillment, insurance agencies, judging and Promotion agencies involved in the administration, development, fulfillment and execution of this Promotion (collectively, "Promotion Parties"), and the immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and spouse or "step" of each) and those living in the same households of each such employee, contractor, director or officer.

That should clear up some things.

    • Is it okay to upload my submission for others to read?

Like, for instance, I just submitted my work in the form here and all that, but I want to upload it to wattpad so my readers can read it. Is doing this okay? Or do I wait 'til the contest ends?
    • Ugh, some of the rules are too vague. Like Himeko7 I'm also very curious if you're allowed to upload it anywhere before submitting it.
Next to that I'm really wondering about the copyright rule. For example, I'm trying to create a short story which has Slenderman involved. Slenderman is copyrighted so that means I can't use him right?
But does that also mean I can't make any references to some of PewdiePie's videos? I don't really need to use Slenderman, but I do use some of his video by name (Slenderman saga, Amnesia Playthrough)

And last but not least I was wondering about the whole "Relevance to PewDiePie" thing. I mean, my story is about PewdiePie alright, but he himself doesn't get that much screen time (if at all). Is that allowed?

I'd really like some answers about that.

      GENERAL CONDITIONS:
By Participating and uploading your Submission, Entrant irrevocably grants to Sponsor, Administrator and their agents along with PewDiePie the unconditional and perpetual right to post, display, publish, use, create merchandise from, distribute, sell, adapt, edit create derivative works of, and/or modify such Submission in any way, in any and all media, for any purpose, without limitation, and without consideration to Entrant. Entrants agree to irrevocably assign and transfer to the Sponsor any and all rights, title and interest in Submission, including, without limitation, all copyrights and waive all moral rights in their Submission and may be requested to execute documents refleting such transfer. All Entrants further agree to release and indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor and PewDiePie harmless from any and all claims that any commercial, advertising, presentation, Web content or any other material subsequently produced, presented, and/or prepared by or on behalf of Sponsor and PewDiePie infringe on the rights of Entrant's work as contained in any Submission.

By Participating, Entrant agrees, and agrees in writing if requested, that the Submission will be deemed a Work Made For Hire under the Copyright laws of the United States, but if it cannot be so deemed, then the Entrant agrees to irrevocably assign and transfer to Administrator all of his/her right, title and interest in and to his/her Submission, if any, including all but not limited to all copyright and trademark rights which he or she may have, in the United States and worldwide, therein, for consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged. Entrant hereby waives in favor of Administrator, all rights of "Droit Moral" or "Moral Rights of Authors" or any similar rights or principles of law that Entrant may now or later have to his/her Submission. Upon request of Administrator, Entrant shall execute and deliver such additional instrument of assignment, as may be solely deemed by Administrator, reasonably necessary to establish the ownership of record of the right, title and interest in and to the Submission and of the copyrights transferred and "Moral Rights of Authors" waived under these Official Rules. Should Administrator fail to request the said assignment as stated, that shall not be deemed a waiver of Administratorr's rights and Administrator may at a later time request the assignment.

      Definition of Indemnity: dictionary.reference.com/browse/indemnify?s=t

It doesn't say you can't post it, but if you win then if it's considered copyrighted to the point where you can't post it anymore; and only Pepsi-Cola can? Also, as soon as you enter the fic then it's considered theirs I think. If I am reading that right.

Any name brands with that R or C symbol next to the name is copyrighted. I don't think Slender has that R or C logo, but it can still have copy hold rights since we didn't create the game(s) or whatever. we really have no claim to say we own it or have permission to use it since this is for a corporation, and not just something we can post on fanfiction.net for a non-profit fee. Even though the retail value is $0, but with product placement in stories if people decide to put Mountain Dew in theirs then people can see it a commercial value, and go out and buy MD; because it's in this fanfic/video with Pewdipie. So I think it's best just to make something based off the characters. Like you can talk about Jennifer (that's the rock right?). Felix is talking to rocks, but you necessarily don't have to say it's from and of the Amnesia games or any other game where he names rocks. You can go with "this rock is named Jennifer!" Maybe Felix will make a video explaining some of these things? Then we can use video game names and say certain characters haha. I would say take the same concept, change the names, and the character design, but that might be plagiarism. Plus the judges are basing points on originality and creativity, so I think it's best to just come up with your own stuff.

We must have to write only in english or we can write in other language ? My english is such a torment X/ ...
And the main character must be Piewdi or it can be someone else , totally unknown ?

      1. English Only

      2. Since the fanfiction is about Pewdiepie, one would assume that the protagonist has to be about Felix. Since the fanfic has to show relevance of Pewdiepie. Would make sense after all.

It is sad that Piewdiepie only gets to read 10 stories from probably thousands. Can't we be informed who these "Judges" from Mountain Dew are at least?

I know right? Some of these things we can only base our thoughts on through what the Terms of Service say! Maybe Felix will say "IGNORE THE TERMS OF SERVICE HAHAHAHA!" Yeah here's to wishful thinking! Cheers!

I agree on that. The thing is, I based my story on a blogpost that complained about how PewDiePie changed so much in the last few years. My story is about two fans arguing about that same issue, analyzing some video's to see why that might be ( This was supposed to go in the horror category, so you might be able to guess where this is going) As of such I'm naming some of his videos by name. I'm just not sure if I'm allowed to, seeing as those names are still copyrighted.

And Slenderman does have an official copyright apparently... that's what wikipedia says anyway.

Anyway, I do appreciate the fact that you're at least trying to give us answers. (because I haven't seen any official ones) Thanks bro. ;)

Good luck! I've already submitted two that will probably get DQed, and I am working on a third tomorrow!

That sounds awesome! I wish you best of luck! Think of it as a muse. Many people actually look up plot ideas for stuff like this. "Larry dies in a car accident." That's all your given, so make words out of it! Like with yours can be "two people fighting over a celebrity." Doesn't necessary have to be that specific blog post. You can also use props like letters, personal journals, e-mail, and change the setting to school or even a work place. Since it's not just blogs people write about Felix changing you can use it your own discretion. People comment on youtube videos, twitter, FB, wordpress, websites, letters, e-mail, journals, and even in their own head. Just make sure you change the name of the SMS to something made up haha, or just come up with a platform of your own design (in this case words). So instead of saying: "So and So blog post said this" you can say "So did you say this in your e-mail? Did you send this to me by accidents?", "I saw a (made up) video talking about Felix changing what do you think? So and So","Why you say this on your blog post?". "So I found this blog post", "So I found your blog by mistake and mad that you said this about Felix!", "I over heard you talking about how Felix has changed.", and etc, etc, etc. You get what I mean haha. You can also make up a person who is popular/non-popular that just goes on and on about how Youtubers do so and so for x this and x that. There's plenty of people out there like that. Making up one wouldn't do any harm.

      Yep I figured as much.

      You're welcome! I try! Haha.

Okay, thanks! I'm not sure I'll win (others write better than me...), but I'll just wait 'till he annouces the winner.
    • I have a few questions about this contest. I was reading over the terms and such and was wondering what exactly is and isn't allowed. For example, I mentioned the Oculus Rift in one sentence and I would feel terrible if I were disqualified for mentioning the Oculus (since the Oculus is likely copyrighted) which isn't even a major element of my story. Also, I didn't see a name part anywhere on the form as others have mentioned which also concerns me, but the copyright issue is my main concern. I mean, I could submit a duplicate omitting the Oculus Rift sentence but I don't know if that would be allowed.

Once submitted then that's it. No resubmits.

WELL, I would assume the sponsors have a ton to read, and then Felix goes through the top 10 I think. I hope he announces soon!
