YouTube Video Quality

Hey Bros,

I'm completely new to the world of YouTube when it comes to making and posting videos, and so I need a bit of help

I'm trying to get the best video quality as possible, so viewers are able to view my videos in 1080p. I record with FRAPS and then do a little editing in Windows Movie Maker (Quite the noob hehe). When I'm done with editing I render it under the YouTube settings, but this completely ruins the quality of the video. I then attempted to render it in 1080p, but then I need to downscale the size of the video for uploading, so I use Handbrake to make it smaller. After uploading it to YouTube, I have a max of 360p :huh:

What am I doing wrong? Am I using bad software? Should I use something else?

Video Quality Help?

I found this post.. But I don't use Vegas so

I'll move over to Vegas as soon as I need it, but for now Movie Maker is sufficient.
So I suppose the best question to ask is, what Movie Maker settings should I use, and which program should I use to reduce the size of my videos, without sacrificing quality?

Use Vegas and feel happy. And also download the x264 codec. Then I can post setting to your PM, tada!

My advice to you is to get Sony Vegas or Premiere Pro as soon as you can. They are SO much better than Windows Movie Maker.

Will Vegas downscale the size of the videos? Or do I need to use something else?

Yeah. Just render them with x264 and the size will be much lower.
By the way, I personally like Bandicam, he captures videos and renders them right in the process, so u will need render only to edit.
Fraps is okay too, but it really depends of your PC.

Hmmm,
Have you watched the video prior to uploading?
Handbreak might be taking quite abit of the quality from your video. This will result in video only being 360P on upload. My 720P uploads that are usually say 20min are in mp4 format and are always ~600mb
