    • Are labels a good thing? Why or why not? If so, what label would you use on yourself?

I was just curious to see how the responses for this question would be, but myself personally, I do indeed go with labels. Just because I am what would be classified as a nerd. I do nothing but play games, I love Dungeons and Dragons, I still play Yu-gi-oh, I fantasize about the 90's, and I still watch Pokemon. Label's often cause some issues in school though, i'm aware. Anyone else wanna add to this?
    • I don't like labels. People usually judge other people and label them completely wrong. Especially in Britian, where someone with short spiky hair is a chav, someone with long hair is an emo etc.

I've been called all sorts of labels in my time when I considered myself to just be a somewhat normal guy, one of the reasons I grew my hair was because I was sick of getting called a chav now and then because I dislike chavs and so on so forth...

Nah, but seriously, i don't really know my "label" ... Maybe i am one of this guys that act like a kid all the time .. Don't care about anything an adult should care ... Yup, i'm a little boy trapped in a man's body ... Shit xD Oh and I smoke, so that makes me a big kid with swag ... I suppose xD

    • Some labels are okay. It all depends on the person being labeled, and the labeler. I proudly call myself an otaku, nerd, hipster, freak, nutcase, emo, and many other things. But if someone else called me "creep" or "suicidal crybaby", I would *probably* get very upset. I think that it's alright to label, but not with bad intentions.
      I'm not fat ;(
    • I hate labels. I feel like each person is their own - and to classify someone by a label means you're separating everyone into little groups based on their personality - and that their all the same. I could easily call myself a nerd but not I'm intelligent like they are. I could easily call myself Emo but I don't wear dark clothes and eyeliner all the time. Do you get the gist? It's okay to classify yourself, but in general, if you were to say someone was a nerd just because they play video games, then you'd classify the typical jock as one because he plays Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed after a practice to wind down.

There are so many of us who are different, yet share the same interests as others and we don't even realize it because society divides individuals up by labels. That jock could very well be best friends with that nerd if they got to know each other.

    • I'm fine with labels, unless they are offensive. I've had people call me "scene"
      I'm fine with that.
      Nobody's gonna love you if
You can't display a way to capture this
      Nobody's gonna hold your hand
      And guide you through
No it's up for you to understand
      Nobody's gonna feel your pain
      When all is done
and it's time for you to walk away
    • First off, Misfit you deserve candy for playing D&D. Although 4e is terrible. 2e is masterrace.

And yeah, labels are good. At times they can be annoying or confused with others, but without them it would be hard to but people into groups and
choose your friends, enemies, and people you couldn't give less shits about / have nothing to do with. If people try to label you something for appearance sake though (example: Long Hair = ERMAHGHERD HIM/HER IS EMO), just kick them in the balls, or ovaries I don't think it matters really.

Oh also I wish I had money for more memorabilia for anime and just older games in general...
    • I don't care for labeling.
Everyone is labeled by someone where ever they are.
Maybe even your boss has a name for you: "Dat laizeh wurkah."
Well I would call my self a nerd but I am getting called a fish for some reason. (Fcin' a-holes...)

    • Eh, mixed feelings. I get called retarded, strange, perverted [okay, that one I understand], and weirdo, and it pisses me off so much. Yes, I know I'm strange, and I don't like it to be used as an insult just because I'm not afraid to have a little bit of fun, say stupid things, make jokes that aren't funny and maybe even dance whilst people are around. My friends get me, and that's all that matters. I prefer to be called 'original' instead of one of the people who act like everyone else just because that's what they veiw as 'normal'. But then I feel happy when people call me artistic, creative, smart, a good-gamer and other stuff. Titles also help make sure you know who you are, and help others to know you in my opinion.

    • Labels simply aren't good.

One person can have so many faces that it simply becomes impossible to distinguish whether he/she is something or not. A person's behavior can change all of a sudden, he/she can dress like some super evil minded overlord and watch MLP at the same time. What I'm trying to say is: it's impossible to put someone into a category. To label someone.
