  • Capture Issues (Low-Res Games in Fraps)

    Hi guys,
I swear I have scoured the internet but I haven't found the answer to this question. And I'll probably feel dumb when I get the answer, but here it goes.

I have used Fraps and Bandicam (and now I'm just using Fraps). Fraps is great and I never have trouble with it...
EXCEPT! When I try to capture something that is lower res, such as older games or those made 8bit-style.
I've tried to capture Imscared, Judith, and now I think my capture of Left4Dead 2D may be ruined. When the capture is done, I have a big black video with a tiny box in the upper left corner of the screen. I attempted to crop the video but the quality may have failed (I'm not sure yet, I'm in the middle of trying to salvage this as I type.) This will be the third capture that may have been ruined.

Is this something I can fix from Fraps?
Or should I try and crop/salvage them in Premiere? (And if so, what should I do to insure that it comes out looking the way it did while I was playing?)

    Thanks for the help,

    The Spookie
  • The problem probably lies within Fraps specific use being to capture DirectX-based interactive media.

If you have a Stereo Mix Driver on your Soundcard use Bandicam instead. Dxtory most likely won't help you here, but in 3D games it may help to have both Fraps and Dxtory because you'll be more adaptive. What Fraps can't record, Dxtory may be able to, and vice-versa.
  • -- Open Bandicam

-- Open Game in Windowed Mode

-- Click Target [upper right corner of Bandicam]

-- Click Rectangle on a screen

-- Adjust Rectangle to Game resolution

    -- Record

    -- ???

    -- Profit

Oh, and, a little tip. Before actually recording a huge episode, try and record, a 5-10 sec video to see if everything works.

Sharkeh for the win. This is a pretty important step for a blind playthrough.
