Hi guys,
I swear I have scoured the internet but I haven't found the answer to this question. And I'll probably feel dumb when I get the answer, but here it goes.

I have used Fraps and Bandicam (and now I'm just using Fraps). Fraps is great and I never have trouble with it...
EXCEPT! When I try to capture something that is lower res, such as older games or those made 8bit-style.
I've tried to capture Imscared, Judith, and now I think my capture of Left4Dead 2D may be ruined. When the capture is done, I have a big black video with a tiny box in the upper left corner of the screen. I attempted to crop the video but the quality may have failed (I'm not sure yet, I'm in the middle of trying to salvage this as I type.) This will be the third capture that may have been ruined.

Is this something I can fix from Fraps?
Or should I try and crop/salvage them in Premiere? (And if so, what should I do to insure that it comes out looking the way it did while I was playing?)

I noticed that Cry recorded Judith. That was the first game I tried to capture and it didn't work. I wish I knew how he did it! I'm still looking for a solution. I also posted this question on the Yogscast forum to see if maybe someone there knew. If I find out, I'll definitively post the answer here!

Problem Solved.
Run Fraps and check the Monitor Aero Desktop (DWM) and it captures exactly the way it looks for me and captures at the res that the game is running in.

And I don't like Bandicam.

Sorry, that sounded kind of mean.
What I mean is, when I switched to Bandicam, it lowered my capture output quality and it replaced the game audio with strange.. but well placed.. noises. o_o;
