Not surprising. It was never officially released outside of Japan, but it got fan translated. It's for the SNES.

Kancolle Overtakes Touhou in C86
tl;dr:Kancolle (Aka:Kantai Collection) supposedly overtook Touhou in circles of popularity, turned out statistics posted were biased in Kancolle's favour, Kancolle anime announced, chaos enues such as "zomgwtf 2hu might be obertaken by kancolle etc etc kanako akbar".
IMO this is ridiculous, Touhou deserves much more media attention, and what frustrates me more is how lots of doujinshi artists are moving frim touhou to kancolle. This hype is undeserving and unless this animu coming out is Gurren Lagann quality (which is unlikely), the hype SHOULD die. ZUN cant keep up and in a smart commendable effort he said he might do a COLLAB with Kancolle. I shit you not.

Big difference between Touhou and Kancolle
Touhou - Made by one guy which puts all it's effort to create a franchise for people to enjoy. Doesn't fully copyright Touhou so fans can create everything from artwork to games, aslong they don't call it official stuff.
Kancolle - Made by a huge company which used to make lotsa adult games and wanted to make something for people somewhat younger. They succeeded with it. Also this game makes you totally hate your money as you need to spend money to get additional docks/resources what not. A full-blown commercial webbrowser game only in for the money.
Also, if you can read, Kancolle didn't overtook Touhou regarding circles/popularity.
