Thanks for posting this, it really helps me with knowing what I should do with my gaming channel. Now I just need to recover quickly enough to make another video (not about to record a let's play with sunburns all over your arms and upper body...).

Very nice and helpful topic, i just started and only have 2vids but had been preparing like a week just thinking how , what and stuff like that because i really want to be a lets player with a audience that really watches and enjoys.
But i got 3 problems now
1. I'm kinda shy when i'm commentating so there is barely any emotion. But when i'm playing with just friends they always like the jokes i make and stuff like that (personnaly, i think experience will fix this but thought i could use some tips)
2. Sometimes my parents or brother interupts me which can be annoying since my bro will think im an idiot for making vids and its very awkward to tell my parents because they barely understand why i like games
3. This is probably the most annoying for the people watching, you can hear my breathing noise a lot of time but i don't know how to fix it.
Really appreciate it if someone helped
Thanks in advance and peace
PS: i made a topic to show my channel on the other subject but it needs to be approved by a mod, how long will that take normally? -
Thanks for the help!, Ill try to keep everything you wrote in my head as long as I can (30 mins is all i can do) hehehe

Ok, so my channel is enabled with monetization, but not AdSense i don't think. I meet all of the criteria listed except for monetizing, which i went back and disabled on all of my videos anyways. This channel of mine is 2 things. 1. my second channel, and 2. NEW. My first channel i kinda new wasn't going anywhere with uploads of like, once a month. whereas i'm trying for at least 3 per week. Idk, i'm looking for constructive criticism when you've actually seen my channel and what i do (gameplays mostly consisting of Blacklight atm).

Would it be okay if I added some tips that have helped me :)?
Upload Regularly
Have a schedule on your channel for subs to see so they know when to look for your new videos
It may not sound like much but YouTube promotes channels with regular uploads more than those who don't.
(It's helped me get subs so it will help you :D)
Attend Gatherings
I know not all of you have these near you, but gatherings have really helped me network and meet
other YouTubers with similar interests
Everyone is so nice and lovely and you will make friends there!
Do Not Spam!
It's annoying, people hate it. You may get a coupe of extra views but the retention will be low...
Collaborate
Try to work with someone on the same level as you. This opens
you up to more potential subs, a little more flavour to your content and if
done right, it really helps
Calls to Action
Ask your subs questions. What video do they want to see next?
This shows you listen and if you go with thier ideas, chances are they'll keep coming back to watch them
Improve with Each Video
If you look at my first video, it is on a webcam and its just...terrible D: (ahhaha!)
My most recent video however is produced, filmed (kinda) properly and although
its wayy better than the first. I'm still not happy!
I'm always trying to get better, people don't want to see the same level with every video,
they want a little variety.
Analytics
Recently I had a video that got me subs, but I didn't know because I didn't look at the analytic until
after I deleted it. They tell you what people want more of
I once lost 3 subs from one video so I never repeated that mistake!
And most importantly...
Be Original
Gaming videos are so much fun to make, but if you want to be Youtube successful then you need to
have something a little different. There are 1000's of Gaming channels out there, why is yours different?
Why should people watch you? Think of your unique selling point and go with it
(I'm still trying to find mine...but some of you may already have yours!)
So yeah
I really hoped that helped some of you guys -
