  • Quote from SovietAssociate: “Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see anyone volunteering to be an animator. Models won't move on their own, and like I said, animating for short films is a whole different thing than animating for games.” Well, I already made models and animations myself, so this shouldn't be a problem. However, my results are usually far from perfect or even good, compared to commercial standards these days, but they should be enough to test with. I guess the interest to…

  • I guess I will stick with Dark Basic for now after all. If I'm still alone it's just a waste of time to learn something completely different, when I already started the project in Dark Basic. I mean ... dx9 can still look pretty good XD. @jakeni96 Don't be mad at me XD, but I'm not a teacher ... in fact I'm already programming for years now, and many things are still hard to accomplish, so I guess that wouldn't be much of a help for me. XD @toadie These are some interesting ideas. I get what you…

  • Quote from jakeni96: “I could join if it's not too late!” I haven't even started to actually do something XD. The problem is ... I'm good with programming in general ... but I have absolutely no experience with the UDK or the unreal engine in general. I have a friend who would probably help programming. That's the main problem ... when it comes to programming I'm currently alone XD. So if you can program and if you are farmiliar with the UDK this would be perfect XD. Quote: “ Why the enemies sho…

  • Quote from Skurw: “I read a concept and i love it and i think that children are pretty scary if they want to kill somebody with knife or some sharp object so children would be an interesting part of the game imo.” That's exactly what I thought. In theory we could limit the occurrence of children enemies to the psycho world episodes ... so they would rather have the look of some kind of monster. That way if the player later learns the nature of this "psycho world" it would be shocking afterwards,…

  • Quote from Kneesocks: “Children killable in games is a taboo for games. and with children I mean just human children stuff” Alternatively they could just all be dead already, after all they are the weakest persons there, this could also be a disturbing part of the atmosphere. On the other hand ... breaking taboos is actually what I had in mind in the first place. Cry of Fear for example also had children as enemies ... and actually I didn't feel offended by that fact.

  • Glad to hear that you like it :D. I almost thought the plans for the intense violence would shock some people XD. I know the storyline is kind of weak. And so far I got nearly no details for the level design in mind, things like obstacles in the path, puzzles and stuff. I mean the key-concept is really getting old in horror games ... find a key ... open a door. Oh I forgot to mention ... the enemies should also often attack each other ... with that kind of background story it would be odd to jus…

  • I realized Unity3D has too many features that are "Pro-Version only", that I really don't want to use it anymore. They want to have 1.500$ ( or € ... doesn't really matter ). So the best thing to use seems to be Unreal Engine -> UDK. I haven't done anything with it yet, but I will do some tutorials now. I saved the open office document as a ".doc" file, but I don't have MS-Office installed. However, even if the formatting is worse now XD, I guess it's ok. Unreal Script looks a lot like C++, so I…

  • Nice to see that so many people are interested. @Wheezkey I don't know if something like the Unity3D engine is comparable to a "HF2 mod" ( My google skills didn't reveal what "HF" means XD ... so I'm guessing Half Life 2 ). If you can program you can most likely do it in any programming language, I guess. As I said ... I'm currently writing down what I had in mind ... with all aspects ... could take a while. I'm not sure yet if I will include the story right away, because I think it's odd to rev…

  • Quote from SovietAssociate: “I would be interested in working on some stuff. I'm able to do some 3d modeling, and I'm a pro with Photoshop. I'm also working on cracking the code on how to make horror game soundtracks, but I'm good with normal music, too. I think this would be a great idea to see put in motion. EDIT: Re-reading your post, I noticed you use DarkBASIC, I honestly think Unity3d may work better (It has a simple learning curve and can produce some professional results).” If you are go…

  • First of all, Hi I'm new. But lets get directly to business: I recently watched pewds speech at the NoNick 2012, and was surprised to hear that he wants to create an own game. I'm a hobby programmer with different variations of experience in VB.Net, Dark Basic, SQL, C++ and Java. My goal always was to create a game, too. Currently I'm stuck with Dark Basic, because that's what I made my first stuff with. I don't have much interest in learning something harder, as long as I have to do it alone an…
