I am new in the LP business as well, so I think it is very helpful to start with a game where there isn't too much action, in order to not be unable to cope with recording and playing the game at the same time. You will see it really is harder than one might think. So I think Indie Games are a good start like Limbo,Super Meat Boy stuff like that. Others say Role-playing games are good because the game gives you lots of input already, so you definitely will have something to talk about....

Which editing program are you using? I use AVS Video Editor and with this one it is really easy , check out my vids, I made myself a frame like this as well (checkout part 4 for my newest frame)
