I honestly think both treyarch and infinity ward took the whole "Modern Warfare" thing a little too far... it's not even Call of Duty anymore as far as I'm concerned but still... ZOMBIES, I'm praying that they make it a standalone game some day :|

Just drop the whole Call of Duty franchise and make a game similar to CoD zombies, that thing would be best.

    • I played a game before Bad Company 2 was out and ruined the Battlefield series forever, it was Battlefield 2142. It took place in the future, where the world was undergoing a second ice age and the two armies had to fight to survive. And while it may not have had a story campaign with cut-scenes or anything, you felt like you were fighting the war and you were your own person, not this soldier a story-writer created. Everything was intense; you had tanks, battle walkers, APCs, drop ships, jeeps, gunships, and the Titans. The expansion was decent, and they came out with free maps too. I miss those days, I miss them a lot.

There are good modern shooters out there and by good, I mean good mechanics and a better story in comparison to the MW series and BF 3. Operation Flashpoint;Dragon Rising is one of those games, where everything felt real, the world felt open and you had the freedom to approach a situation how you saw fit, same Far Cry 2. Your hand wasn't held by some invisible wall or the game put a shock collar on you that would kill you for going out of bounds. And while I can make this giant post of why we shouldn't buy those kinds of shooters, I shouldn't. It's just been something that's been grating on me for quite some time and I've had enough of our culture being dumbed down to appeal to the mass of casual gamers. We don't need to be told things repeatedly, that's why we have a brain.

The only people that don't like the new call of duties are the ones that get owned in them. That or just BF3 lovers, in which case you're disliking a game just because you like a certain other brand. Like Android vs iPhone or AMD vs Intel. Fanboyism. If it truly was horrible, it wouldn't sell.

      True story.

While I may be bad at CoD, I hate all modern shooters equally. Regenerating health, lame story, perks, etc. But like you said, if it was truly horrible, people wouldn't buy it. About the only thing that separates BF 3 from CoD is vehicles and kill streaks, and/or the lack-there-of.

Just get DayZ, where you have to survive not only zombies, but other survivors as well. The standalone comes out this Christmas, I'm sure or early next year.
    • Having owned MW3, I'm certainly not getting this. I can't afford it, but I hated MW3. I got MW3 to play with friends and for a while I did play it regularly with them as a social activity, and I was certainly good at it, better than average, albeit not a pro, and I still hated the game. You can certainly hate CoD and be good at it. I've since gotten so sick of CoD I don't play with those friends and as a consequence and less social with them because of not having that shared activity, but really, I can't take CoD. It's just a game that reeks of bad game design on many levels, especially their level design, weapons balancing, and hacker prevention.

Thread brought back from the dead -_-

The companies who make MW3 and BO2 are different, so basing it off MW3 is not really fair.
COD is easy to be "Above agerage" because there are so many people who just suck at games playing.
      I wove you...

      Oh what YOUTUBE ATTACK!
    • Hey, I wasn't the one who brought it back. :P

And yes, I know that studios are different (studios, not companies. They're both working for the same company).
But CoD does have a basic gameplay formula that I just find very non-fun, and while maybe the map designers are better at one studio than another I'm sure still the core problems that bother me most are constant, and that's consistent from what i've heard from friends who've played the Black Ops game

And fine, I was good at the game then, not simply above average.
    • I've played it since last posting and I have to say it kicks the ass of every CoD games since World at War but I do have two complaints:

      - Zombies was disappointing to say the VERY least
      - Veteran was WAAAAAAY too easy, I completed Veteran in a matter of hours (CoD4 took me weeks)

The multiplayer is really enjoyable, I'm already 2nd Prestige :D

    • So.. i did a 6 hours research to COD multiplayer mode *modern warfare 3 to be precise*

      Here's the result

      - Most of the players always being a dick whenever they died or someone stole their box-from-the-sky (I seriously don't know what is that)
      - Some of them yells that all the players in the server are a hacker.
      - Highly unbalanced and unfair multiplayer feature
      - The so called "Infection" mode (or whatever it is) doesn't have any zombies. just some russian dudes with a knife
      - Almost no teamwork at all

If you're angry, don't break anybody's heart, they only have one..... Break their bones, they have 206 of them

      - Some of them yells that all the players in the server are a hacker. (they have been using PunkBuster since the first cod4)
      - Highly unbalanced and unfair multiplayer feature (yes, a server full of lvl 80's while your lvl 34 <--- YOU WIN COOKIE IF YOU GET THE REFERENCE!)
      - The so called "Infection" mode (or whatever it is, correct) doesn't have any zombies. just some russian dudes with a knife (so legit)
      - Almost no teamwork at all (agreed)

There you go, problem solved, you can now die easy.
