  • Help please?

Hi, my name is Caroline and I enjoy playing games on my computer. I was thinking of recording some like Pewdie does and put them on Youtube. I'm having some difficulty in doing so as I cannot find an easy to use programme to record my desktop and voice. Help would be much appreciated :)
  • You need to have this minimum specs before considering to make videos:

At least a dual core CPU

i3-2100 is the minimum for me.(Intel) or Phenom X4 955BE (Quad Core, AMD)
8GB ram. (4GB would suffice though)
20" Monitor (My own preference. A monitor that can record at least 1280x720.)
A good gpu. AMD Radeon HD 6850/7770 or GTX 650/560/560Ti
A good microphone. Razer Carcharias/Corsair Vengeance 1500 are both good headset. You can get yourself a USB mic like Samson CO1U (Pewdie uses it)
    These are only the mimimums.

    -You have to be patient
    -Take time on your videos
    -Dedicated
    -Has a goal
    -Lastly...just enjoy it.

Some of those are higher than what you need. My videos were recorded on 3 GB of RAM, and with an Intel Centrino Dual Core 2.0 ghz CPU. The graphics card was Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT. Yes, I may not have been able to record at perfect quality, but I was still able to record. Also this was a laptop, but should still work the same with a desktop version of the same, or similar, specs.

You just said it. Not able to record at perfect quality. Desktop components>Laptop. I think laptop specs are a bit degraded than desktop.

And what can you play on that specs? Given that it's so old, you have to eventually upgrade on a PC.
You don't NEED perfect quality for videos. Especially if you are new at recording. Not everyone has the money to be getting equipment needed to record at perfect quality right away. Yes, it does help, but it isn't a necessity. I was able to play and record I Am Alive with those specs, and the quality wasn't too bad. I already have upgraded on a PC for sake of a laptop being better than a desktop for gaming. But until now I've been using my laptop just fine.
  • That's where everyone should start out. Main focus should be learning everything, then when you get the money to, upgrade to what you need. I did videos for around a year or so using my laptop. Now that I have my desktop, I'll be working on videos a lot more since my render time most likely is going to be a lot shorter.

But anyway, here's what I use for recording:

Bandicam for desktop and game audio
    Audacity for my mic
I then sync the two together and edit how I need to using Sony Vegas.
