  • Facecam? Help me, bros!

Okay, here is my question: What does it take to impliment facecam into a video?

That probably sounds like a dumb question, and I am quite knowledgable about technilogical things, but I have never done this, and I think it is something that would help my channel, and bring in more viewers.

Now, at this moment, I use Windows Movie Maker to edit my videos and process them, as I haven't to this point had a need for anything fancier. I have Sony Vegas Pro bought and ready to download, but I haven't done it yet, for the reason above. Would I need it in order to do it?

Or, is facecam visible to you while you are playing, thus being a part of the video itself?

And finally, I assume in order to have a facecam, I would need a program dedicated to that purpose, so what are my choices? (I have a built in webcam)

    Thank you in advance, Bros.
When in doubt, hide it out.
  • First, you'd need a webcam, but I assume you have one already since you are asking this.

After that, you need a program that can record the webcam. Most webcams or computers that come with one have a software included, so you could use that, otherwise you'd have to obtain a software that can record the webcam. The software choices I am unsure of, as I use the software that came with my computer, called Cyberlink YouCam.

Once you have that, you set the webcam to record, and then you record your gameplay at the same time. For this part you'd want to start your two recordings, then you'll want to spend a few seconds, hover over each option in the game and say it aloud as you do (it will help greatly later). Then proceed to play the game.

After you've got both your recordings, you are going to want to open them in the editing software of your choice. This is where the previous step helps. You need to sync your two videos together so that they are lined up. You do this by lining up your voice audio with the game video via the little hover thing you did.

Next, you will edit that part out of the video, have it start where you want to, and then edit the cam so it is in a corner of the game video.

That should basically cover it :) If you need a more in depth explanation you can PM me.

  • Thanks for the help, Chibi. :D You answered my question. And I am going to be installing Sony Vegas today, and will use it here on out, hopefully, (I'm not much of a editor) I can make my videos a lot cooler. :D
