Do NOT get AMD, i've got AMD right now and it has sooo many issues with divers. I can't even open my "Graphiccard panel" thing...

Have had AMD the past 2-3 cards and havent had issues... altho i always use drivers thats 2 releases behind the latest

This is what happends whenever i try to open it.

(Dat Swedish, Bassicly it stopped working.)

Im running with 12.6.. just uninstall the drivers, use driversweeper in safemode and install 12.6 instead

One issue tho (that i think is related to the fact that i only use hibernate) is that if i havent opened in a long time i need to close it via taskmanager coz it only shows a all white window when i open it.

Woop, it worked thanks for that!
  • I like that neither of you specify what cpu and gpu model ur talking about (and no reason why its better), since in certain priceranges nvidia beats ATI and vise versa (intel cpu's is however overall better both cost and performance)
furthermore some cpu's and gpu's dont work well together

So, why is my gear I bought shitty gear?

"A Core2Duo 3.2Ghz Intel, and a GTX Nvidia GPU (can't remember which one exactly; I'll have to check on that) of 512 MB. And RAM memory sums up to 2GB. Let's not forget that i've got the "Gaming Edition" of Windows 7"

    1. 2 cores of 3.2ghz is like nothing
    2. 512mb on a graphics card ...
    3. 2 gb of ram ...
    4. "Gaming edition" of windows 7 won't really help you but okay.
  • People need to understand, that what's "told" to us by GPU and CPU producers isn't everything that matters; for example, the Ghz frequency is only the tact frequency of the processors; there are several other stuff to worry about (I'd say them, but I know their names in Romanian only). Also, about the GPU, not only the VRAM matters. It does, but it isn't the only one. There is the Chipset and several other stuff. And about the RAM memory, it's not the only one that matters; there are also several other memory types in the PC that matter, for example the Cache memory. And about the Windows 7 Gaming Edition..I don't know what to say. I don't know much about Windows 7 itself, as I only used Windows XP/98/2000 Professional. All I can say is that it takes a lot of space from my hard-drive comparing to other older windowses, without significant improvements.
  • I have the worse computer ever lol, no one can beat of being worse computer ever *and still alive*,I'm not on my computer right now but I know that I have an Intel and a NVidia GeForce G210, 4 gb of RAM, I don't remember the GHz of the CPU or GPU...

The worse and I guess it was because of viruses, my computer is acting weird, in way that sometimes, I lose 100 gb and a month later, I get them back... wtf I upgrade my anti-virus, tried Microsoft Essentials thing anti-virus... after scanning, no alert... I check around in my computer, nothing that take up that size... oh well, I will soon change it anyway, btw, much worse, It's a "Vista" so yeah, already by word "Vista", we know something is really worse there

not good really into computer settings and stuffs, I would say NVidia + Intel since I can run lot of modern games today with low settings with what I have, I just still need better things yeah... and a better Operating System

  • i will never take anything else then nvidea anymore AMD/ATI is basicly crap in my eyes.

yes on paper ATI cards look faster with a higher clock speed on the GPU. but can't compare a CPU and a GPU. infact for graphic cards its better to have lots of cores with a lower speed then have a few cores with a high speed.
next to that its the structural design that makes nvidea much better in my opinion then AMD.

as processor i would take Intel over AMD this because AMD doesn't have any form in preventing datacorruption between communication of the RAM and the CPU. something that intel has. this makes intel CPU's a bit slower on paper but much faster in procecing since the cpu doesn't have to recalculate as much data as an amd does.

    1. The GHz of a core is rather important, However L1-L3 cache, RAM compatibility, technology, number of cores and hyperthreading DOES matter
    2. The last Core2Duo came out March 2008 so its horribly outdated
    3. VRAM matters alot, but a 4gig card (for example) is useless if the core/shader/mem clocks is low (also 512MB is the MINIMUM req on pretty much every game nowdays)
    4. Low ammount of RAM gets you nowhere with todays games, no matter what you say (win 7 requires atleast 1 gig)
    5. Cache memory is directly tied to how big your cpu is (L1-L3 cache)
    6. I wouldnt use win7 "gaming" due to the fact that i think its filled with useless crap but thats just my opinion and i havent looked into it
    7. I have built my last 4 computers on my own so i have a fairly decent idea whats good and whats not
    8. Win7 have so many improvements compared to the older OS's that i dont have time to list them all, but the biggest one is compatibility with new games (and old)

All your arguements is invalid, please try again

I sincerely hope you are trolling, or atleast attempting to.. If you are serious, then i suggest that programming and anything to do with computers isnt your thing

My grandfather had a similar problem and the only solution that i found was to format the disk and reinstall windows (I tried different AV's and some free online scanners, along with Malwarebytes antimalware program but no luck)

Not worth the upgrade. Get 660ti and you'll see TREMENDOUS upgrade.

I have not looked into it but if it uses 6 pins (NOT 8 I simply can't get into my psu because of this clusterfuck of wires) and it is under $250 USD then I will definitely go for it. My ati card is just being all Oops our new drivers accidentally fuck up this game! (Using AA with Skyrim as an example)

But yeah if the 660 Ti uses only 6 pins and costs under $250 USD (might be able to increase the budget by $25-50 depends on what me and my mom can agree on)
  • ...Why wouldn't programming be my thing? It is and will be. And, I wasn't trolling. I don't plan on playing Serious Sam 3, Battlefield 3 or CoD Black Ops 2 (specially CoD). The problem with my other PC was that it wouldn't run ANYTHING that was after 2005. I don't care if this system isn't 100% new (i.e. not the last GPU/CPU that were made as of now); it can run games that I wanted to play, and that aren't made in 2012 (I almost never play new games as they're just perfections of the past, not really inovations). So, yeah..it can run games I want to play. And I mean the games that were before 2010; I can run most of those and I'm happy with it. I may need to change my PC again, as who knows what CPUs/GPUs/Games will come out in the future; but for now, this'll do. I can't see why it would be shitty.

I'm not saying this in offense, but if somebody is wrong about something, that doesn't make that person either a troll or stupid (programming isn't related to hardware, mostly). So, if I was wrong above in some points, that doesn't make me stupid, or somebody that shouldn't touch computers or do programming on them. I don't really care if I was wrong or not above, but the current PC is doing well enough for me. As I said, I don't plan to play CoDs.

And yes, I agree; the Ghz, VRAM and RAM do matter; what I wanted to point out is that they're not the only ones that do matter. And, XP, 2000 > Vista and 7. I can confirm that. Of course, there are some points Windows 7 may be better than XP (for example, compatibility issues), but they're fewer than the advantages 2000 and XP have over Vista and 7.
