    • Wilderness/Zombie Surviving Games

Could anyone recommend me any wilderness surviving games? What I'm talking about is games like Stranded 1&2, where you have to build and survive. Just don't recommend Minecraft, Terraria or Unreal World as I've looked onto those already. The graphics won't matter, as long as it's a survival-simulating game. Any suggestion is appreciated ^^

EDIT: Also, you may suggest any zombie-surviving game (i.e. with the same requirements as above; barricade, scavenge for supplies and all that, and no "wave-killing" CoD Zombies style games).
    • DayZ? I don't know man... I haven't played many games like these... Besides CoD, Left 4 Dead and House of the Dead I haven't played games with your criteria. Hell. I'm not even sure what DayZ really is besides a Arma 2 Mod...

      PROUD BRO OF THE ARMY!
Poison's hot, and you know it.
I'm not a girl. I just appreciate them enough to have them as my avatar and signature.
    • DayZ is the closest thing I can think of that fills these criterias, if you wanna play singleplayer you can try getting a private server with a password.
Other than DayZ I know there are some servers on Gmod that have constant zombie spawns and there you can build, scavenge and such. However the downside to that is most of these kinds of servers on Gmod tend to be running an RP gamemode, which means there will always be butthurt, cybering little 10-year-old dickwads on the server, and if you're really unlucky, as an admin.

However if anyone's got better ideas than this, I'd like to hear them aswell, I do like the kind of gameplay these criterias bring. :D
    • Look for Project Zomboid, game is still in pre-alpha (very cheap to buy now) and there's a free tech demo to download, this download is however one of the first versions and don't include sandbox mode where you can build character with perks.

At the moment it's singleplayer, but somewhere around mid beta they plan on releasing multiplayer

      Steam name: cosmicdash
and other stuff I don't remember
    • @Everyone that suggested DayZ..I forgot to mention I knew of that as well. The thing is, I don't have Arma II, and there's no way I can buy that (i.e. no game shops close to my town, no paypal account). About GMod, it's the same story. And they're both good games.

And about Project Zomboid, I've played that and I'm still playing it, but the problem is it lacks building (you can build barricades and that's it when it comes to building). I may turn back to playing this after it has more added content.

And, about the other games that are good and not released..damn those developers for not releasing them earlier. There's even a "Man vs. Wild" game that is going to be released.

Any other suggestions? Until then, I'm stuck to Stranded 2 with Massive Mod and Minecraft on Hardcore difficulty ^^

People really need to start developing more games of this kind..it should even be a game genre :D
    • This is a difficult one since finding all those things in one game can be hard but finding those things you are looking for over different games is easier.

For just surviving in a hard world you could try games like 'Fallout New Vegas.'

Or you may like the RTS kind like 'Age OF Empires' or 'Civilisation' in those you start really basic and grow.

If you are willing to play a game from the 80's haha, then you could take a look at 'Wilderness: A survival adventure'. Very realistic but don't know where you would get it from.

For the wilderness touch there is 'Cabela's Survival: Shadow of Katmai'

There is a game that (I think) hits everything you are looking for. But it is from the 90's. It's called 'Robinson's Requiem'. You make tools and all that kind of stuff. Also from a similar time frame (the 90's) is a game called 'Deus.'

There was also a series on the Nintendo DS called 'Lost in the Blue'. Well they brought one out fior the Nintendo Wii called 'Lost in the Blue: Shipwrecked' But this game has a little cutesy graphics and there is a grind when it comes to food but it has what you are looking for.

Also there are zombie survival like 'Project Zomboid'

I am not sure iwhich of these you would have to play online or which can be just single player. There are probably a lot more but these are a mixture of ones I have heard of and a little research. Hope this helps :)
A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

    • I have played Day Z, and as far as your criteria goes, it doesn't really match it anyway, it is more of a survival game than a building game. A lot of these, I haven't heard of, though. Keep up the good work, people, there has to be the perfect game for this out there, somewhere.
When in doubt, hide it out.
    • Fallout: New Vegas still has to be tried by me, because I've played the first Fallout and I've finished it; the only downside to New Vegas would be that it has different developers.

Age of Empires has been played by me, both the 2nd and the 3rd, both online and offline, and I loved it, and although it has the "Building" part fine-mastered, it doesn't have the "Survival" part.

Wilderness: A Survival Adventure is a game I'm still trying to understand; it's nice though.

Cabela's Survival: Shadow of Katmai is not on the PC, and I don't own any other consoles (and I don't even plan to get one).

Robinson's Requiem and Deus are games I'll look more onto right now, as I've seen that they're both "survivalish" ^^ .

Lost in the Blue is on the Nintendo DS, and as I said above, I don't own any other game consoles (well, except "Terminator", on which I play Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros ^^ ).

And about Project Zomboid, I stated the reason I won't play it right now in a post above.

The list was useful, as I found out about games I didn't know of; perhaps Robinson's Requiem or Deus may be the games I'm looking for, afterall ^^ .

Anyways..so far, the closest game to the specifications I asked for is Stranded 2, which I still play; it works on a PC that has a graphics card of 32 MB (and it's 3D, having both building and survival; not to mention the fact that it's 100% modable and there are a lot of mods for it already, even a multiplayer one). The second most close to this is Minecraft, but I've played it for a year and got bored of it (I still occasionally play multiplayer with friends once in a while).
