  • Fraps + Logitech (Facecam) = Screw'd Up Audio (Mic)

    Hey, bros!
In my previous facecams, I've noticed a horrible problem that has been irritating me for the past few hours.
My webcam (which has a shitty microphone built-in) makes Fraps change the settings, so that the microphone from my webcam would record instead of my headset microphone, which is a lot more better compared to the shitty webcam mic.
Anyways, is there any easy fix to this?
I was wondering if I should just connect my webcam through the back of my custom-built desktop, and see if it should help or not.
I have four USB ports on the top-front of my desktop, and a few more in the back.
    Please respond, bros! C:

Edit: I have tried putting the USB from the webcam to the back of my desktop, but it still shows up in Fraps no matter what. :c
    I can't change the options either. X(

  • I think there's a way to turn off the microphone from your webcam through your sound settings. It should be under recording devices and whatever name it is under for your webcam. And then make sure your headset microphone is activated. Then it should automatically change it under fraps.

    KEEP CALM & BROFIST ON!
  • I dislike voice recording with fraps (External output), because it captures it wrong, or low.

I would just suggest you getting Audacity , a software that is free to record sounds (your voice, in this situation). Its really great.

It should allow you to pick from which mic you want to record.

Or just go to control panel > Hardware and sound > Sound > go to RECORDING tab and disable the webcam mic and leave the headset one on. :D

Yeah, I've seen/read a lot of reviews of Audacity.
It's quite an amazing program for all your audio needs.
I guess I can try to record three different things at once.
After all, I believe my subscribers should deserve the best out of my capabilities. :3

    Is this correct?:

My webcam's microphone isn't picking up in Fraps anymore, which is a good thing.
But, I just want to be sure. :s

Camtasia CAN record webcam, video(not fullscreen though), and audio. It's easier to sync and the audio and in-game sounds have differenet tracks.
    I hate Camtasia.
It takes forever to render out the video. :c

Thanks you guys for helping me out! (=
Please continue posting if you can help me out even more if great tips, etc. :D

Well, it's because of the codecs maybe. Don't use UNCOMPRESSED vids. It will take you hours.:D Bandicam is also good though.:) It seperates in-game and mic sound.xD

    But a con:
When FPS drops, your video becomes slideshow. I'm not sure if it still is until now.
I'm a narb when it comes to codecs and Camtasia mixed. lool. :D
I've tried Bandicam before; it didn't help. :c

Right click the microphone of webcam and press disable.
I thought about doing that, but it'd be a little harder for me to set-up the video for perfection (mouth movements that go along with the audio).

Yeah, make sure your Logitech is at "default", that your Webcam Microphone is disabled.
This is why you aren't picking up anything from fraps because it is conflicting with 2 different mics. lol
    Nope, it all works now.
I didn't change any of the setting in the picture above.
Fraps recorded my headset microphone perfectly.
I'll post my new MCS video soon for proof. :3
  • I'm not sure if this has already been answered but what I would do is go to your sound settings where you can see your microphones and make the microphone you want to record with your default mic, then fraps should automatically use that mic. This is one of the reasons why I like bandicam so much better :P (plus, it doesn't limit what you can record on your computer so you can record your desktop, etc)
