Counter Strike: Global Offensive vs. Source 17
      1.
Counter Strike: Global Offensive (10) 59%
      2.
        Counter Strike: Source (7) 41%
A question that's been asked many a time.. Anyway, since I had to make a new steam account, I'm wondering which one to get. CS: S + GMod or CS: GO. While CS: GO has better graphics, from what I've seen the gameplay isn't really as traditional as CS: S, and it kinda seems COD like..

      Anyway, votes?

    • Yeah, CS:GO still has the classic gameplay that CS: S has.

People who claim that CS:GO has lost the classic gameplay is butt hurt about the whole ideal and think that people will move on from CS: S to CS: GO just like they did with CS 1.5 moving to CS: S.

I mean damn, if you want to keep on playing CS: S that's fine.

That's another thing that pushes me away from it, no Source SDK. So, no Gmod, which I don't mind, but since I'm basically re-buying games, I'm not trying to buy a literal shitload of games for no reason. CS: S + GMod package on steam is appealing, but I'll wait to hear a bit more from people who actually own the two.

Thats the reason why people avoid CS:GO. enough reason for that alone. Source SDK is needed for custom gamemodes/maps. What makes CSS fun are the custom fun maps etc.

Also I have Garrys Mod with all augmentable games and I have to say having CSS is kinda mandatory for most gamemodes on there. Since most gamemodes use weapons , sounds and player models etc. from CSS. and without CSS they with either not appear or appear as a huge error sign.

Yeah, that's what everyone's been telling me. While you can get things like HL2DM and get GMod for somewhat cheaper, it's recommended to get CS: S and GMod so everything functions correctly. And yeah, the mods really are a major plus, and CS: S has them in abundance.

Counter Strike GO is a new game, maybe you have to wait some months until Valve release a modding tool for CS: GO. CS is a community / mod driven game. So, I think Valve will make CS: GO a fully mod able game just like Source. Yes, I agree, CSS is fun because of the mods. I still enjoy playing CS Source than GO, now because it doesn't have custom maps / skins.

Edit: Oh.. CS GO have custom skins and maps.. I don't see it. I thought there are no custom maps / skins for GO in GB. Well..the skins and maps still isn't that good,

      lolwut, people MOVING onto CSS?

CS 1.6 was still popular, slowly dying because more fubs went to play other stuff. CS 1.6 was mainly used in tourneys rather than CSS. CSS seemed more of the fun-type, because source engine enabled that feature for SourcePawn.

With the GoldSRC engine, it was hard to create game modes within those limits, but it was still possible.
Saying that, people just move on because they are terrible people who play games for gfx. Terrible.

No, that's not the issue. The issue is that the vast, VAST majority of mods are created for the Source engine, which games like CS: GO and Portal 2 no longer use - and hence, no Source SDK. The newer engine that these games are using is still in development or w/e, but for some odd reason, they didn't package the SDK with the games. I don't know why, it's probably somewhere, but I assume it's because it's either closed source atm or they're too lazy or something. The reason there's so many mods for Source engine games like Half-Life and CS: S is because it was/is such a great engine to work with. It just seems odd to me that people would leave hundreds of thousands of mods for "better graphics."
