The first time I saw the topic name, I thought it was a mod of some sort. Oh well. Anyways, they are indeed easy; fill them with TNT, make the barrel shape, make a redstone wire from the barrel's bottom to the lever, and BOOM.

Nice idea. Would be nice to build a big room in Amnesia style. With Barrels etc.
