I was 5/6 years old and I remember that I used to watch my sister play Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt and Adventure Island II... I don't really remember which of these 3 games was the first I played, but this question made me think about my old Nes, I should still have it somewhere... TIME TO FIND IT!
