Modeling figures is one of the harder parts of modeling. If you are a beginner model you will have a lot of trouble. The reasons you aren't finding many tutorials is due to how much time it takes to model figures, and the complications involved. Your first steps should be to learn the basics, like more rectangular shaped items (boxes, refrigerator, etc.) Then from there you can slowly work your way up to more rounded objects. Plus the fact that you are going to want it animated (unless you plan on having it just bounce around like the model in Slender does) means you will also have to learn about animating and how to work with the skeletons in the program.

All in all, you're quite a ways away from modeling complex figures like humans, creatures, or animals.
