(Sorry if this is appalling, this is the first time. Tell me if anything needs adding or removing or editing, k?)
Pokémon Yellow Version: the third game in the franchise (second if you count the almost identical Red and Blue versions to be one game), with somewhat enhanced gameplay and graphics (well, this was first introduced in 1998), and somewhat enhanced plots (ok, not much changed.), this is based on the popular Pokémon anime.
Your goal? Defeat all eight gym leaders. Become the greatest Pokémon trainer of all time. Catch Mewtwo, which was the greatest Pokémon ever (at the time).
PLOT:
(note: I will refer to "your rival" as your rival only once, and then Blue, his canonical name, afterwards. You do get to name him anything that has up to six letters in it, have fun. :P)
Congrats! You're eligible to get your first Pokémon! You walk into Professor Oak's lab, only to find your rival (who you get to name. Have fun :P) waiting for the Professor, a.k.a. his granddad, Professor Oak, to come. So, you walk into the tall grass, when you see someone following you. It's Professor Oak, who tells you to not go into the tall grass without a Pokémon. He walks further into the grass, when a wild Pikachu appears! Oak catches it, then takes you to his laboratory.
There is a sphere on the table, a.k.a. a Pokéball. This ball contains an Eevee, a very rare Pokémon that can evolve into three different Pokémon. This was originally intended for you. But then Oak's grandson, or Blue, steps in, and takes the Eevee for his own. So, what do you get left with?
A stinkin' Pikachu (electric-type).
Oak gives the Pikachu he caught earlier to you, and then Blue challenges you to your first battle! When the battle is over, he sets off on his journey to become the best Pokémon trainer of all time. A few seconds later, it's revealed Pikachu doesn't like being in his ball! So you have to spend the majority of your journey with Pikachu following you. You can talk to him by turning around and pressing A.
You also get given some Pokéballs to catch Pokémon with. You can buy Pokéballs, as well as Great Balls, Ultra Balls, potions, etc. etc. etc.
You travel around the region, having run-ins with Blue, who will also catch and train his Pokémon (more on that later), and the nefarious Team Rocket, who plans on stealing everyone's Pokémon. Of course, this being aimed for the younger people, you can't shoot them or stab them. But you CAN have Pokémon battles with them.
Oh, you will also be given a Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle on your journey. You may evolve them to the max.
Anyway, you travel around, also defeating the eight gyms: Pewter City's rock-type specialist, Brock. Cerulean's Water-Type specialist, Misty. Vermilion's Electric-type specialist, Lt. Surge. Celadon's Grass-type specialist, Erika. Fuchsia's Poison specialist, Koga. Saffron's Psychic-type specialist, Sabrina. Cinnabar's Fire specialist, Blaine.
And, by twist of fate, the 8th and final gym leader, Viridian's Ground specialist, Giovanni, is also the boss of Team Rocket!
Once you defeat all of them, it's time to go to the Pokémon League. I hope you've caught many Pokémon by this point. Cos you're gonna need them.
You'll take on the Elite Four, which consists of Ice-specialist Lorelei, Fighting-specialist Bruno, Ghost-specialist Agatha, and Dragon-specialist Lance.
Then, you rush into the champion's room! And guess who Kanto's Pokémon Champion is?
That's right.
Blue, your rival.
After you hopefully win him (when you lose to any Elite Four member or the champion... You have to face them again...), you become the Pokémon Champion! Which is gonna be very hard using just Pikachu (who you can't evolve). So, when you're inducted into the hall of fame, the credits roll.
After that, you can face the Elite Four again, along with Blue.
However, another goal awaits: go to Cerulean Cave, and find Mewtwo, the strongest Pokémon there is. Catch it with the Master Ball.
