I'm Derreck Frey (yeah, as in "French Fries"), and I'm a 16 year old gamer who loves making gaming videos ranging from all types of genres (from rage games to indie games and much more). However, the road to getting where I'm at now hasn't always been this way.

When I first started my first channel, I was pretty bad at YouTube as a whole. Although I had a burning passion for making videos and entertaining others, people around me such as my parents told me it was a waste of time. I was depressed by such negativity, but I didn't let that stop me, and fast forwarding to present day, I would like to say I've improved a lot. I still have a lot more to achieve and work on, but I find one major obstacle for me with YouTube is my parents' support for YouTube. Even though it's been such a journey for me in the last four years of my life on YouTube, they still see it as a distraction. I've been scolded that YouTube will get me nowhere in life, and that focusing on school is more important.

Although I agree that school is important, YouTube is just a huge, and almost life-long passion for me. Ever since I was introduced to YouTube, I saw it as an amazing way to express myself and entertain others through the internet in ways I've never seen before. And because of this, I'm hoping that this amazing opportunity you're giving to us small YouTubers can finally change my parents' minds. I'm hoping that I can show them that YouTube isn't just a "waste of time", and that YouTube is an amazing community to be apart of.
