//Boy, oh boy, oh boy. I finished writing this a few minutes ago. I wanted to post it on Facebook first, get the opinions of some friends... but anytime I try, either in note or status, but it freezes my computer. Perhaps it is cursed, who knows! It is late, I have not slept in two days, I hope this is actually not TOTAL crap. Anyway, enjoy ^^//
It all started after I watched PewDiePie’s youtube video.
The game was called ‘Slender’, and looked pretty damn boring. Seeing one of my ‘youtube idols’ freaking out over a small indie game made me laugh.‘Oh please,’ I remember thinking, shaking my head. ‘It’s a damn game!’ It’s not just a game. After a quick search on google, I found another video on youtube. It was a little teaser, just showing the graphics and such.I followed the link, and the game downloaded quick. Too quick. The crunching of grass, like MineCraft, was the first noise I heard. I huffed in annoyance, my laptop not made to play games of any sort. I had to admit, for a ‘quickie’, the game was detailed. Too detailed. The trees were too… tree like, the sky above looking eerily just like the one outside my bedroom window.I shook off shivers that crawled up my spine, and sent my character forward. She lurched, moving better than my laptop should have allowed. My fingers were splayed across the keyboard and mouse pad in an odd position, since I refused to use the ‘Shift’ key above the arrows. I easily got through the game. Too easily. Not once did I see Slenderman, and at first I thought the game was glitched, so I played through it again… and again… and again. Never did the faceless creature appear, and eventually I gave up. I closed the window, then shut off the entire computer after checking my email and facebook. It was late, my eyes were heavy with sleep. It had been a long day. I shuffled over to my bed, throwing myself into its comfortable embrace. Sleep came quickly. So quickly it felt as though I was falling, but there was no jolt that would normally wake me up from such a feeling. I was in that damn forest. The grass made loud crunching sounds, breaking the silence that lingered over the area. In my shaking left hand was a flashlight, that was so dim I was afraid the light would flicker and die any second. I knew I was walking, that I was controlling my movements, but it felt so mechanical. Like I was just a puppet.Like I just THOUGHT I had control. The first page I stumbled upon was on the withered tree. I turned, ready to grab the next page from another spot. He was right there.Hunched over.So he could ‘look’ me dead in the eyes.I opened my mouth to scream. Not a sound came out. It felt like I was choking on water, like I was in the deep end of a wave pool, being pulled under. I woke up then, drenched in sweat, panting like I had run a marathon. But I was cold. So fucking cold. It went like that for the next few days. Everytime I fell asleep, found a page, he was there, looming over me. Judging me, as if he was my maker. As if he had the right! What was he trying to find when he ‘stared’ at me, sucked the air from my lungs? Tonight I went out with my friends. We went up to the highest part of town to watch the fireworks being shot off on the other side of the river. It was not far from my house, so after the fireworks stopped we said our good-byes and went our ways. I was alone. I walked at a leisurely pace, not eager to sleep even though my body screamed with the need to. Turning a corner onto my street, I saw him.He just stood there, head cocked to the side, next to a lamppost, under the light. I froze, and blinked. He was gone again. I ran the rest of the way home. I locked my door, and leaned against it, the cold wood cooling my flushed face. I thought I was safe.Until I felt something slither up my spine. It felt like a snake, wrapping around my throat, squeezing tightly.I remember turning, seeing that blank white face. It split, forming a wide mouth filled with sharp teeth. The corners of his mouth pulled up into a horrid smile. It followed me.It had always followed me.Every fucking time I played that damn game, he had been there! He just did not show himself! As I type this, I know he will be back.Either once the sun sets again, or if I fall asleep.I don’t think I can handle that.No way in hell.I don’t want him to get me!I won’t let him get me!
