1.) Soundhound.
Ever heard a song on the radio and you wanted to know what song it was but never got the name? Well , Soundhound will surely help you with this one. Soundhound is able to retrieve the song name and more from just listening to the music which is currently playing. After it has recorded a segment , it will scan its whole database if there are similarities with songs and after a match is found , it will be displayed. Soundhound needs an active internet connection , but can also function without internet by just saving the last segment recorded and you will be able to “send” that segment so Soundhound will analyze it when you are connected to the internet again.
This application has brought me multiple smiles on my face by testing this wonderful app, in my opinion it is quite amazing that the current technology is able to do such things. Although it might not work on Indie artists , I would still highly recommend this application to all my friends due to its usefulness.
2.) FPSe for Android
Nostalgia is in the air , FPSe for Android allows you to play PSX games on your eh...android (well that was kinda obvious). Currently this application is the best PSX emulator on the market with frequent updates and such and allows you to play even on the “lowest end” android phones (for example my Samsung Galaxy Y which is spinning around 830mhz). The only downpart for this application are the controls , since they are really wonky and solid , So I would only recommend this if you play slow-paced games like (Turnbased) RPG's and such.
I personally have had a shitload of fun with this application and have wasted countless of hours playing LSD on my phone , the graphics look amazing on the phones due to the resolution aswell and you can almost compare it to the current “HD” games for phones with smaller screens.
Note : For this application you will need a PSX BIOS file , I will not recommend searching for this on the google playstore since people who are not affilated with sony will ask money from you to download this file. DO NOT DO IT. The PSX BIOS files are property of Sony Entertainment only and Sony has not given permission to thirdparty groups to distribute this file. You may download this file for free on the internet if you have an old PSX in your possession (for legal purposes)
3.) The Mystique series
Wow , the Mystique series is an amazing series which is some sort of hybrid of a first person game mixed with a point and click game, not that this game is really scary. It still manages to suck you in its creepy and dark atmosphere and you will encounter some ghosts. The first game in the series is free and quite short, but without logic thinking etc. you will still manage to play it maybe for 15 min – 2 hours , while this game can maybe even be completed within 5 minutes if you know what to do. That is the big downpart of the Mystique series, its replay value is quite low but still worth playing. The other 2 games in the series are somewhat bigger but are also paid. The controls are quite a pain in the ass though , but when you are ingame , you will not mind it that much. So if you have some money to spare and want a good game (imo) buy the episodes from this series.
Might expand this list later.
PS . Games are also regarded apps.
