ok i see i have negative rep now on these forums judge me how you will
but for now im going to post my progress here
and tell you the history of my experience on the pewdiepie.net minecraft server
so that you can get the true image of me and my intentions
[The Beginning & How i Started]
Early june i found out about this server through a friend, what made me stick to this server is the grief protection
(basic overview of grief prevention: you can claim land or "blocks" that can only be manipulated by you, you get more "blocks" the longer you play on the server)
it was the first time ive ever heard of this and i became hooked when i found out the capabilities of this plugin
so... as anyone would, i went out far looking for lush lands to found my home
found a cool mountain that i could carve up into a multiplatform minecart system branching out in many directions, but that went on hold as i lacked resources
people were starving and asking for food, my small melon farm i crudely made easily fed me and many others who asked for food
but it became overwhelming, it took too much of my time to go out and give people food, we needed a public farm. But that would be impossible without fear of grief
and securing the land wouldn't make it public...
[The Public Watermelon Farm]
I struggled for a solution to this probelm, i searched for hours
until i came across a construction someone made of an automatic watermelon farm
of course there were different construction schematics, some required huge amounts of land which i couldn't claim
(the claim area costs on the X and Z axis but not the Y you could build as high as you want)
so i found a design that would work vertically and i tweaked it to fit inside the small claim area i had
it looked to be the perfect answer to all our hunger problems
thus started: Krahfty's public automatic Watermelon farm
(the way it worked with grief prevention is that, grief prevention allows outsiders who dont have ownership to the land
able to open wooden doors and activate pressure plates, and the pressure plate was the key for people to use the farm publically
without giving rights to the land)
(so someone would come to my farm stand on the pressure plate which would activate the redstone pistons that spiralled all the way to the top,
and the melons would be pushed into the water stream which would push it down to the person stood on the pressure plate)
It took about a day to plan and build foundations and get resources, then another 2 days to build.
here's some screenshots of the build in progress:
*need to get good finished image*
my farm got alot of fame and attention for a while lol
even pewdiepie's survival game stream couldnt escape my melon farm,
with the bounty of melons around people were litterally throwing them around
[The Market]
but around a week ago (cant remember dates), mkerix decided to add a plugin called
chestshops, w0lf4ever made me realise that the public watermelon farm would ruin business
for people wanting to sell food, so i had to shut it down but keep it for private use,
people were pissed for a while but i sold melons pretty cheap, so they didnt complain much...
at first it seemed no one knew about the addition of chestshops, until i started selling melons, and i decided to plan out a construct of a market.
And because my melon farm was intentionally close to spawn all i had to do was expand to get closer to the spawn.
as i was claiming extra ground and marking the size of the market, w0lf4ever wanted to make a market of his own next to mine.
I never felt like we would be in competition, as i didnt feel i would want to sell every resource only the ones i had an abundance of.
So we agreed that i take the left side and he take the right.
It took me a while to figure out the mechanics behind chestshops. As i was learning, i wrote the instructions on a board to the entrance
so that people could understand how to use the markets when they came to them,
heres a screenshot from around that time: (also the finished watermelon farm is in the background)
but alot of people walked right into the market without reading and spluttered into chat asking how to buy stuff...
during this time w0lf4ever had almost finished building his market and had alot more to sell than
i did, which i wasnt too bothered about, he was selling iron and dirt etc... which i didnt want to sell i needed those resources myself
currently, im still planning out my market bit by bit, adding more and more items to sell, planning and building my market day by day
but now im litterally going to sell all items, ill dedicate myself to get people to help gather resources
that i can buy from them and put them in my shop so that they are available for every player to buy
I have missed out alot of history that i didnt think was needed, like my building of cobblestone generator factory (seen on the left of teh first screenshot),
tree farm, longest minecart track claim area, exploration of other peoples caves and finding diamonds, losing diamond equipment,
building of my Automatic Skeleton XP Farm, Automatic Sugar Cane Farm, Automatic Tree farm experiments, Automatic Blaze farm experiments
and many more things i havent listed.
also it would be cool if other people told their stories on the server
i really like this server, not so much some of the players that mosey on by, but i have some dedicated helpers and loyal friends that
will help me gather resources to continue my work on this market
