PewDiePie on South Park??

    • Just aweful.

If they had you improvise the whole 20 minutes it would at least be funny... that was like the longest 20 minutes I had to sit through... and the only time I laughed was the beginning when you said "get rekt!". (also you were playing with hands in the air lol)

I almost cried of how unfunny it was... but that would require me feeling anything but decay of emotionless boredom.
wtf south park?! what happen to you? what have you become since season 7? was this even comedy? or just serious depressing drama? chick flicks have more emotion than this! my brain regrets watching.

      0/10
sorry pewds, but not even tiny point for bringing you in, trying to get views out of your talent of comedy...

I mean... there is so much funny things they can rip on you, SO MANY FUCKING THINGS! but it was just... actually, can you tell me a joke from there? anyone who disagree, 1 joke? like funny quote or something??
there's nothing... it was my brain really hurts right now, it was unpleasantly annoying, long and pointless. (and that's what she said)

Please next time give them a hint about how to make fun of you, because I don't think their writers even do the slightest research about their content or even try anymore...

Nothing not the Cartman's thing, not the holograms, not the cumming on stage "artists", even though it's true... it wasn't funny........... all of it had some exaggerated twisted truth to it, but true doesn't immediately means funny... there were no jokes.
a joke is: senpai suck my ass... it will last forever!
or: when did you start your porn career? well it started back in 2012.. I mean, I don't have a porn career......

Seriously, I'm probably going to get hate here, people may think I'm not supportive of you, but I am! I love that you got this far... but that is below your level, which is something I never thought I'd say about south park before watching this excuse of an episode.
Like really, anyone overly hating right now on my honest opinion, did you laugh?! I mean beyond fake laughing when ever you think it's your que to laugh?? like really laughing, for yourself, cause it's funny... did you?
If you did, then have at it... enjoy. what can I say, guess we don't drink the same water here.

Anyways sorry for this probably depressed post, I was pomped to laugh my ass off and this is the state I ended up with after this "comedy" episode.

    • I thought it was great!

People who watch LPers rather than play games themselves - that's fine and enjoying something is positive nonetheless, but it does irk me when they try to claim to be a "gamer". To be a gamer you have to actually play games lol, not just watch others doing it.

The whole thing about the pop music industry - spot on!! The billing of these pop artists (many of whom don't write their own material or play any instruments) as "rock", that there's no real enduring empowering messages, that's it's SO shallow it might as well be a hologram controlled by a company because the artists - as artists - don't matter.

The Wendy-show zombies sneering at the youth for cheering on internet personalities.

The fact that comments and reactions drive the market and therefore the market panders to more comments and reactions and we get stuck in this human centipede-esque loop.

Everything in this hit the mark dead on. And I think it's absolutely fantastic that Pewds was a part of this particular episode because it's showing self-awareness on his part and that it's great to dip in to this culture while still retaining a knowing of how bullshit it can be, because that's what will stop someone losing themselves to it. Absolute kudos to Pewds!

Also... I'm kind of literally Kyle (except I love Pewds obviously) xD

I agree it was kind of spotted, but it wasn't funny.... no jokes were made....
I can state that you commented on this thread! will it be true? yes. but will it be funny??
      you feeling me bro?
This wasn't comedy, and the most unfunny video of pewds is funnier than this.
Either they'll get a grip or just Megan Fox!

btw the next episode is next week?
    • UserDude and JellyStripes,

You both make some very good points. Yes, this was definitely not one of the funniest episodes of South Park. It's been interesting that they've been trying something new, with the episodes this season actually tying together somewhat rather than previously it was like the world got reset for each episode. And they've actually had moments of (sarcastically) looking at real issues. Back to the end of the last season with Wendy protesting the photo shopped pictures of the girls and it ended with a... "Woah, South Park actually had something real to say there."

They had a lot of that in this episode as well, while still having some chuckle moment.

For me, the fact that Pewdie was playing Call of Duty and Dragon Age on his channel were humorous to me.

As far as the really hard belly laughing episodes...this one didn't have enough Butters in it to have that effect very much. Yet there was still the "OMG...I can't believe he just did that." moments with Randy and Cartman. And knowing how much Pewdie loves the show too from his playthrough of the Stick of Truth made it fun to watch!

So what did you bros think of the episode? :D

Since this forum is for super bros only. I guess I can share that there will be a two parts of the south park episode!

I have to say that CartmanBrah made me laugh my ass off, his imitation of you was actually good-natured and respectful, AND fuckin' hilarious XD

And I reckon I can understand Matt & Trey's character study of "Let's Play" YouTubers, but I think they point they miss is that we aren't just watching some bro play games and make comments while we ignore everything else in life. Watching PDP videos is watching a comedy show - your wit, personality and sillyness is the real entertainment, it just happens to be in the context of video games. You've been cracking us up for years! There's a lot more to it than they portray!

All in all, I thought it was a pretty funny (and thankfully NOT CRUEL) parody of the Bro Army, and the Pewds has finally made his indisputable mark on a pretty heavy-hitting staple of American television. Felix kommer att ta över världen!!!
    • PewDiePie on South Park??

I find him so goddamn annoying, his "Pewdiepie" thing he calls out makes me want to make myself deaf. I hate him so much that when he plays a game I like, I feel like it's been insulted. However, he's only played one gamer I liked, Skyrim, but even then he pissed me off. He thought he would be "Unique" because he thought he would be one of the only people recording it. It's a really popular AAA game series, and he thought he would be unique by posting videos of it on youtube three months after it came out, when tons of better people posted videos of it the DAY it came out. I seriously hope he doesn't post DA: Inquisition to his channel, because it already pisses me of that he played it for a little bit, because it's a serious, wonderful game, and his comedy is really immature. I hate his friggin "Bro" thing, it's awful.

      Um... No comments.

I don't watch TV, at all. I don't watch South Park because it's not a program that it's on a TV channel here.

I get the jokes that the episode tried to point out. They were somewhat cruel and harsh, so that's why they weren't "funny". I think they weren't supposed to be.

They made fun out of everyone. It's true what they represent, and it's okay to do so. But maybe if they responded with the good things... It's comedy. It's there to make you laugh. It's there to pass the time by, to discover some things. To interact.

But we can't go over the edges, we have to position ourselves properly to have a healthy way to enjoy everything in life. South Park isn't making fun of Pewds, they are using TV and media to communicate a problematic that it's here today. The only way to make people respond is provoking them, making them talk about things. It's normal, it's human, it's reasonable.
Artists should be artists because of their content, we all know that. But what about Let's Plays? What are they? A form of usurping our family time, or a form of harmless entertainment?
Anything in excess, is not healthy.

Yeah, maybe they didn't use everything. Maybe they didn't do it for "the laughs". I felt it was more like of a talk you would have with a teacher or with your parents. Once in a while, making people think of the problems they may have to address it's good too.

The second episode probably will focus itself on the same point. I wouldn't hope for it to get different, really.

My opinion on the episode: it was informative. That's all. It will help people to have a reason to think about things, maybe even correct some things.

It's good to watch Let's Plays. But it's also good to be with people you love and play things together.

      **Curating**

This is part of a great Reddit comment by Trachtas:

Still playing the game of "stay on top of it."
Still thinking we can maintain control by checking all the new media out personally.
Look at your steam library: how many dozens, hundreds of games there have you never played?
With every year it only becomes more impossible to catch up.
Are you really in control there?

What kids today appreciate are the importance of curators.
People who'll do the checking out for you, who'll reduce the deluge of possibility the internet creates to a manageable, controllable size.

You get that much, I know.
      It's like magazine reviewers, right?
      No!
See, this is what we don't get.
It's not just individual games/albums/TVshows these new curators recommend.
Even the best media have frustrating levels, filler tracks, bottleneck episodes.
These new curators even filter what they're sharing from within.
They summarise and edit and cut, they repackage and reshape the "raw" material of the game/episode/whatever.

That way you're guaranteed consistent quality entertainment.
      No dud s.
      No filler.
      No downtime.

      **Easier to share with others**

In one of my previous comments, I mentioned shared experiences.
I think the advantage of Let’s Plays is that you’re experiencing the medium without having to do a lot of work, or tedious trial-and-error.
Also, they can be short, and easily digestible.
That allows you to bring in more people in your life into that shared experience, such as non-gamers, more casual gamers that might not have the abilities to play the game, gamers that don’t have the time to play the game, or gamers that don’t even know that the game exists.

It becomes more like a television show or movie, which can be easier to share.

You might have more satisfying personal experience with a certain activity, but if you can’t find anyone else to interact with in regards to that activity, it can be less appealing.

      **Easier to augment other activities**

One last relevant Reddit comment by Snowyjoe:

I'd like to know if people watching video game commentary actually focus on watching it like they do with a movie or book.
The majority of people I know who watch let's plays and stuff actually multitasking while doing it.
To me, it's just some filler when I'm too tired to actually play games or going to sleep.

In addition to being a medium that is easier to share, it’s also an activity that is just easier to do with other activities that might have the primary focus.

I’m most likely in the extreme minority, but I'll mostly use Let’s Plays for ambience.

While on the computer, I ran Felix’s 2 ½ hour “Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons: Gameplay” on a small tablet on the side.
I probably spent a total of 10 minutes actually focusing on it.

Someone that I know trades stocks at home, which involves multiple monitors.
With them, he’ll sometimes stream speed runs on the side.

      >The human voice appears to trigger pleasure circuits in the brains

The Human Voice May Not Spark Pleasure In Children With Autism : Shots - Health News : NPR

While listening to light music, I listen to NPR, but I listen to it at a low audio level such that I can hear voices, but I don’t know what they’re talking about.
      I enjoy the busyness.
Various sound generators online have the option to put you in a café or coffee shop.
      E.g. Coffitivity
Similarly, I’ll also put the volume low for Let’s Plays, and mainly and occasionally admire the visuals that are off to the side.

Yeah, most people will think that this is a very incomplete experience, but remember that similar dismissive attitudes are also being held by the game players that say that all Let’s Plays are incomplete experiences, or the physical athletes that reject virtual simulations as not being true experiences.
    • I think you guys are missing the point.

SouthPark didn't rip on people liking or disliking "lets play" thing.

I think the idea was the the 'older' generation generally doesn't "understand" younger generation and hence they "hate" new cultural movements.
