If it is to someone who isn't an anime fan, then in my opinion the best series to show is Scrapped Princess.
If it is to someone whom is a fan of anime, then it depends on what type of shows they like. Overall for me Code Geass, especially R2 is my all time favorite anime.
But I will do a genre by genre list.
