It really depends on what kind you're talking about.

For friendships and bro-ing out together virtually, I think it's cool and it actually filled a void in me back when I was bullied in school and a loner in real life.

For romantic relationships, I would say I'm not entirely for it.
Having a keyboard in front of you and being able to catch yourself before making certain comments are great to a certain extent, but as far as for relationships, I feel that you'll know less about the other's habits and sensitivity if it's based on a virtual meeting and interest.
Of course what I'm saying is for the serious virtual relationships where there is no meeting in real life. If you're on a dating site and you meet someone, you two make plans to meet in real life, I think that's cool.

Devotion to another person you meet online is what worries me as there is the element of danger as you may never truly know who's behind the screen.

But yeah, it's my opinion. If it does work out for you, that's cool.

I see~ I've actually met friends, who are from my virtual world, in real life. And it's cool and all though I did get reprimanded by my dad for doing so.

But all in all, virtual relationships are cool. There'll still be that distance between two virtual friends though, as I've felt with many.

This is always hard to judge correctly. Because it's always easier behind a screen.
I met lot of my friends online, on forums or games, and saw them IRL after few time. Also some important person.

But the meeting IRL is always important in my opinion. You can really how the person is, how you react while talking and that's a huge in a relation (even with friends). If the person live far from you it's obviously harder...

But I don't think the distance is a real problem as long as you and your friend can adapt to it. Most of the time the real problem is when someone is not patient enough...

One year ago i wouldn't think I will be in finland right now. 2500km away from where I live.

You can't predict where you will be in one year most of the time.

And one month ago I wasn't thinking about visiting Japan too. So everything can go pretty fast :).

I feel that virtual relationships, which can easily lead to something romantic, are actually quite good. People tend to be more open online, because they'll be accepted. I for one would love to be in any sort of relationship. But what really ties everything together is that moment when you meet IRL.

I actually don't see the problem with online relationships though.
Sure you're missing out on the whole physical side of the relationship, but that's not all there is to it.
It could just be that the couple look out for each other, making sure they're both okay.
