Kurayami bows in turn to Aqua. "Many thanks for your gracious hospitality, milady."
He rises and looks outside, sacrificing his sense of touch for hearing, attempting to track the creature that caused such bloodcurdling screams by sound.
    • "On the contrary, I'm fine. In fact, I'm-" A loud growling noise was then heard, and for those wondering, it wasn't coming from outside.
Finnian then collapsed face-first into the ground. "...Dying, that's it. I'm slowly dying of malnutrition."

Then the aroma of soup reached his nose, and noticing the pot hanging over a fire, the fire instantly began to burn far hotter than normal.
"Foooooood..." The kitsune said with a strange feral look on his face as the flame's heat began to rise even further, to an outright dangerous point.

You know, most people call me insane...
That's what happens when I try to reason with people, they don't like it, and I eventually end up turning them to charcoal in the end...

Why are you looking at me like that?

Despite popular belief, I did not draw the avatar I'm using. I can't draw.

      Kurayami was, undeniably, hungry.
      He was prepared, however.
He reached into an inside pocket of his cloak and pulled out some rations. Dried jerky, made from meats that he had "acquired" from towns he passed through.
It may not be tasty, but it kept him from getting hungry.
    • As Finnian recieved the still boiling hot soup, he couldn't help but grin widely.
Logic told him to cool it down, have Aqua do so, or take small sips.

His stomach, and also the rule of funny told him to inhale the whole thing in seconds.

Fortunately, he chose the former, and decided to eat at a safe pace with little risk of burning himself.

As he did so, he realized he'd forgotten to ask one very important question.
      "Aqua? Why are you blue?"
      Again, very important question.

    • "I'm a merfolk lady. I don't have any scales or fins and other miscellaneous though. I was kinda born like this, not that it matters a lot." Aqua looked at the kitsune with bright eyes. "My childhood was kinda normal. Nothing really special, except I always had the feeling I'm not really a merfolk." Her smile sorta saddens when she tells that.

Without stopping looking outside, Kurayami responded to the merfolk, Aqua's, question.
"Judging by the screams' rapid succession, something that could tear through many hunter bodies quickly. Given how quickly the screams stopped, and how many stopped at once, without sounds of bone snapping, something that can pierce many hearts and lungs simultaneously.
I don't know what it is specifically, but be ready for rapid piercing attacks aimed at vitals."
      After that, he remained silent.
    • "Merfolk? I thought mermaids and such were more, y'know... Fishy. Huh, Oh well, no matter."

Finnian remained calm as he drank his soup, already feeling revitalized just from having food after who knows how long without it.
But, when the conversation turned to the monster outside, he began to choke.

"W-what?! *Cough!* You sound like we're gonna fight that thing!"
He wiped the remains of soup away from his mouth.
"I don't know about you, but I say we avoid the big nasty monster! I'm a good illusionist, though, so that should be no problem."

Thanks to his lack of taste, he could barely see the skull look directly at the igloo. He could also make out the body.
Seeing this, he stood up and drew his blades.
"We've been found. From what I could see, I think that was our culprit.
The way I see it, we can either stay here and try to fight, or flee and risk hunters."
He looked at the other two and went to the fire, using his magic to obliterate all traces of its existence, covering it with the ground.
      "I vote flee."
    • "Er, wait. You're joking, right? I mean, there's no way anyone could spot this in the middle of a snowstorm, right? Right?"

Silence followed Finnian's nervous questioning. Already knowing the answer, however, he began to hyperventilate.
"Oh, Ehekatl, give us your blessing... We really need it right now..." He said silently to himself.

"We're leaving!" The kitsune suddenly said loudly. "What're a few humans compared to an abomination?!"
What he didn't mention was that if they wanted to fight, he'd have ditched them. After all, he barely knew them.

      "Wise choice."
Kurayami carefully scanned the surrounding terrain to the fullest possible extent, shutting off all his other senses to do so.
When he came to, he slashed the door open and walked out, disguising the now fallen door to melt and freeze again, looking like more of the ice under the snow.
"So they can't track that we've been here. I'll take the lead. Follow behind and cover our tracks."
Kurayami took the lead, keeping his eyes and ears open for the beast or hunters.
"There is a town nearby. Shall we seek shelter there or move along past?"
    • "Town? Oh, you mean Vernis? That's fine, I was heading there anyway."
Said Finnian, a few meters behind the half-elf.

"If nobody objects, I would like to cast a chameleon spell. Might make getting out unseen a little easier."
