Razer Kraken's are really good sound quality, and the mic on the pro's isn't too bad if you're just starting out.

You just need to enchant your normal headset and get some runes.
Enchanting takes time, but it's worth it. I currently had a nice +10 headset with the rune of Bass and Good Sound, but I forgot to improve it with the run of Endurance, or I simply didn't have it, dunno, so the headset broke up :c
Buying new one in some days, will try another build.

And yeah, if you don't have money, try to go to the nearest instance with the group, maybe you will get some nice gear :3

If you are looking for the best possible audio solution for recording games possible, then a USB mic isn't really preferable in this case!!

You would need to buy a DAW of some sort and buy either a condenser or a shotgun mic that would be worth over $200 to get any type of decent sound quality!

USB has a very different signal to XLR as USB transfers actual data to your computer and XLR transfers the pure waveforms through a preamp built into your DAW and then through to your computer!

For most people who don't have money, a USB mic is the way to go! This may not be preferable for some but it still works great either way!

Two great brands that pretty much blow other companies out of the water in terms of Sound quality (In Headphones & Mic's) Sennheiser and Audio-Technica
Some headphone examples:

Sennheiser is average as is Audio Technica but are good for the average consumer!

My top choice would be Neumann, Shure, Rode or AKG!

Just look for a mic worth more than $300 with the above brands and you have a brilliant mic!

Your DAW also affects the sound! I recommend Focusrite! Great great brand and make awesome preamps!
