Mainstream VS ...Weird? I guess?

      Greeting all, I was bored to be honest and did some thinking job...for a change...

      Ok so, I encountered a couple of ignorant jerks a couple of days ago that just enjoy themselves "picking" on me and a couple of my good pals thinking that they will get an AMAZING ( 8o ) reaction out of it... Pffft... yeah... Anyway, for a hundredth time they came marching in and telling me how weird I am as if it was a bad thing (not for me at least). When I asked them to define "weird" it turned out as anything that is not "mainstream". I would like to know what you people think of as "weird" or "mainstream" ?(
      On the outside I may appear like an emotionless sarcastic piece of shit, but just like an onion, when you peel off more layers, you find the exact same thing every single time and you start crying.

    • Weird is a word that insecure, uneducated people use to describe others who are, in reality, just 'individuals'.

      I think the official definition of weird is -something of odd or unusual character.

      So...basically...something that isn't 'the usual'.

      But I would be hesitant in calling people who do not conform to every single 'mainstream' pattern weird.

      I'd call them smart. Mainstream trends usually suck.

      Funny because when you get older being "mainstream" is looked down on more because it causes you to blend into the crowd. For example, I am a 24 year old who commutes to a corporate job in NYC every morning. Most people around me stare at their phones while dressed in business clothes or sit with ear buds in. What am I doing? I'm the only person dressed up in work clothes playing Pokemon X on a Nintendo 3DS. It causes some people to look at me weird but whatever. I'll be more memorable to them in the end. ALWAYS be unique/weird in this world! Life is way too short to conform to what everyone else is like!

      Yes well I personally don't give a shit about their opinion. I am 20 years old and since I was picked on my entire life...before I broke a nose or two (but that my friends is a different story :P) and I really couldn't care less. It just pisses me off when they pick on someone who can't stand it very well. Since I am on my Zen side or at least trying to be, I guess I just decided to talk it out instead of bashing their heads on the table, but yeah it's just...they don't seem to get it (surprise, surprise). Nothing against mainstream people that mind their own business though :D

    • I use the word "weird" when describing things I consider alien and strange, like outlooks on life that mystify me. I guess this is the wrong definition? Well, it's a matter of opinion so there's no wrong answer.

      What I call "mainstream" is basically the hit songs on the radio and what my "hipster" friends on Facebook are into. Without even trying, I don't like mainstream things. Saying that, I tend to dislike things once they become popular or if a lot of people I know like it.
