As far as I remember PewDiePie was asking about that in one of his videos. He asked girls how should he call them because he realised that bro is actually for males but the girls as far as I know said they don't mind so it stayed "bro" as unisex expression I personally don't mind nor think it's sexist lol. For me "brony" is a no-no
and "brodette" reminds me too much of...bread xD I don't know why don't judge. So as far as I'm concerned I am ay bro! \m/
