+1 going for amnesia ! i just prefer it i think its much more fun ,but i think you should play what you feel comfortable the most to play ! goodluck anyways

I found Penumbra to be a lot more scary, and just better to me. Of course, they're older so they're not as good as quality as Amnesia, but I prefer Penumbra.

I'm on the fence with this because I love both so much! I will say that I more than likely will lean towards amnesia due to the fact that the 3rd pnenumbra was really.. boring? It was a bunch of "OK find the glowing orb things to get out of this area. OK you did it, now find them in THIS area!" Seemed like a bunch of puzzle solving, nothing scared me at all... I gave up about an hour or so in.
Penumbra black plague was EVIL!!!!! Best one.

Amnesia for sure. It has better story settings. Penumbra is scary but for me it's not everything a horror game should have On the outside I may appear like an emotionless sarcastic piece of shit, but just like an onion, when you peel off more layers, you find the exact same thing every single time and you start crying.

Penumbra: Requiem is puzzles cut from the first two games slapped with a narrative, it's not supposed to be scary or anything.

Amnesia (the original one) is so much better than Penumbra. Penumbra isn't really scary, and it comes from a person that gets scared REALLY easily.
But unfortunately, A Machine for Pigs sucked, so if I had to pick AMFP or Penumbra, I'd go with Penumbra.
