Also, spam is not a good way to get yourself noticed.

If you want to improve your channels then look up the YouTube Creator Playbook (version 3)
I was given one by someone that works at YouTube and it really helps as it contains marketing strategies and just
knowledge that will really help :)

Spend time on your thumbnails, channel art and building a relationship with your subs.
I look forward to getting feedback and I geniunly enjoy YouTube, not for fame or glory, but for the community :P

I know I don't have a lot of subs, but I've managed to build 250 in the past 6 months.
That doesn't sound like a lot, but 150 of those has been in the past 2 months.

It's so frustrating trying to build an audience, but we all just have to be patient and keep working :p

It builds over time but something that I mentioned once in a very old thread is that Youtube is kind of like being a street performer. People pass you by over time they may stop and watch for a bit before moving on and sometimes when they come back into that area (Youtube) they may seek you out to see if you're doing something new with your act.

The thing is that at the same time someone is performing across the street, so your act needs to out class theirs in order to get the most audience.

Now with that being said a street performer does what they do because they love to entertain. A street performer like a Youtuber puts in a lot of dedication and passion into their entertainment for very little reward be it money, or viewership. At the end of the day you may have just made one or two people's day and that is what counts :)

It's funny how YouTube will consider a video with repeated tags (like saying "the" more than once) as spam, and will push
your video down the page, but it won't sort out spammy comments?

I agree that whenever I see a "ohhh I got an iPad from this link..." comment or any other spam,
I will report it as such.

Maybe we should start a petition for YouTube :p

      "No more spam!"
      Hahaha

You can filter poorly SEO'd tags fairly easily (repetition, etc) but spammy comments are very difficult to automate the moderation of. Hence why it's generally left up to the community.
    • Something that has really pissed me off though, and made me less motivated, is when I get messages to check someones youtube channel out.. I mean, I checked this one guy just for the lolz.. and he had 8k subs.

He had only uploaded 60 videos. How on EARTH did he reach 8k with only 60 videos with crappy quality?

The most annoying part was that he got no hate at all. 100 likes 1 dislike.. -.-

I've done youtube for 3 years and I have yet to hit 1k. Not that I really care that much, but it just really annoys me to see someone who spams and gets what they want ;P

It is possible that he didn't get those through spamming, or his videos. He may have just purchased the subs which is generally the case if the viewer activity is far less than the subs. Though saying that mine is generally low too haha.

I never thought of it in that way!
(And I have went back to watch people I've passed over before...hahah!)

And yeah, I think most of us do it for the love. YouTube is a real community and I enjoy every part of it
(whether its editing, or talking to others) so i think that's enough reward in itself :)

    • I agree that people shouldn't spam and do things such as sub for sub and things of that nature. As Pewdiepie stated, don't do youtube for anything other than having fun and enjoying what you are doing. I get that and I totally agree. However, being a small youtuber, like myself, I find it hard sometimes to gain more motivation to post more content and have fun when my view count is only at 20,30 or 40. I'm not saying that it isn't fun, because thats not true. I love posting videos and interacting with my fans and expanding the madden community. It's just that sometimes you want to see all of your hard work get you somewhere. I'm not saying spamming is the answer, because it isn't. Posting comments that say sub me and I will sub you back don't actually help your channel. Posting good quality content and creating a connection with your subs will help you grow your channel. There are some people who spam, that aren't necessarily trying to gain subs (sub for sub). They are trying to get there channel name out there to people who otherwise wouldn't have seen it and maybe would have enjoyed it. I don't know though these were just my thoughts.

A little bit of jealousy? Even though he was bad quality, maybe he just has something that other people like. ASometimes it's not all about how his videos are produced, it's the content, and if people like it, they'll subscribe, maybe he has that?
But I agree on the inboxes. I hate people sending me their videos and stuff.

    • Sub for sub messages...

Seeing some people posting about sub for subs. I was just wondering if any of you guys have had it where someone's inboxed you or something, saying "oh hey, loved you channel, I've subscribed, will you check me out?" and most of the time the person hasn't even subscribed to you. I think that's extremely rude, because they're not only spamming now, but they're lying as well.

If i want to check the messages on my channel or answer to comments (even if they are rare at the moment ^^ ) i have to open the browser on my mobile phone, log in with my youtube account and so on.. But it takes a lot more time to do it on this way but it's the only way that works on my handy :/

Everyone has different standards. Some like horrible mics, some don't. It is what makes humans human. For example a lot of top Youtubers have mics like Felix that have that effect where you can hear the room bounce their voice, so you know and feel like they might be sat in a room. Others like to sound like they are kind of "in" the video, so they will use a mic that reduces such effects.

The thing is that about 50/50 of people care and the others don't about mic quality. People aren't a united opinion cluster thus why some like certain channels and others don't. No matter how much we might think they suck.
