Idiot because of YouTube

    • Don't worry mate. I know how you feel. In my case I took it and turned around and I said "Well I earned £20 for playing a game for 10 minutes". I know it is nothing much and I really don't care about the money, as for me it is more about the love of the hobby, but it shut some of them up. They saw that I have earn't money from playing a game. Also, though they thought they was taking the piss and annoying me, I realised how much entertainment they had actually gained from my commentaries which made me way more determined to get recognition so that I can say "F*** You. I did it! Who is the sad one now?"

Something I like to say is that perception is an extremely strong thing. Change how you perceive something or your outlook on something then you can have a very big change for the better!

    • If they were your real friends they would support you in everything you do, yes people think that kids do these things but I really don't care, some people did laugh when I told them but when they saw that its actually good they are good with that now. Don't you ever quit youtube, follow your dream and keep going through life, things will come to its place.

    • I stopped reading at the end of the first sentence on the last paragraph. People think you are weird...for making videos? Is content creation the new homophobia for high school? I am sorry but that is just baffling. Creatiophobia...HAH!

When I was in school people loved making videos and sharing them with friends on our crappy mobiles that were like 120p...hey I am not that old!

Zeta I probably wouldn't let it get to you. If people have a problem with being...creative :-s then that is their problem. Sorry but this just seems so weird. People actually hate on people for making videos. That is like making fun of someone for drawing on a pad of paper.

Just ignore the whole lot of them and get excited for the day you enter college as the earlier you get into video making the more you will look like a GOD to many college students. Let's not forget what Gods get: riches, adoring followers, POWA, and hairy man chest to woo the ladies ;-D

The world is moving faster and faster into the digital age. If your friends can't be your...well friends then you have a whole catalogue of more supportive friends right here on the forum and the whole internets to replace their weird ass...erm asses!

I mean seriously next they will be making fun of people kicking a ball around to each other.
There is always time for muffins.
    • Maybe you are showing a side of your personality that you do not show in school?
So when they've watched your videos they might be thinking "that's not how he is in school".
Then one friend talks to another, and then they have easy ammunition to throw at you by calling you weird, etc.
Just don't bother with them cause obviously they are not real friends.
    • It's rough, I've certainly had people give me "that look" when I tell them I'm doing YouTube videos daily.

It's not a problem just for us small guys either. I recently saw a video by Phillip DeFranco (who is nearing 3 million subscribers on his main channel) lament about how people react when he or his girlfriend tell new people about his job.

    • Well, maybe I should have said that not all of my friends are acting wierd, but some of them. And it's really sad, because we were hanging out together from the very childhood.

Of course, 1-2 of my friends are watching my stuff and enjoying them (as they say). Thanks for the tips.:)

    • What a bunch sorry ass losers?

You are absolutely right with the last sentence you wrote; "What is wrong with them?". Because it is definitely not you who is the problem, it is those random people in your school and thos of your friends who are beginning to act weird. They have a problem.

As what goes for those who say dumb things to you, or look strangely at you, just ignore them. Maybe just try thinking "hehe, well at least they've watched my videos." or something else ... because, sooner or later they will find it boring. If you dont give them any reaction, they will get bored.

But, those of your friends that are starting to act strange, now that's not cool. Have you tried asking them straight out why they have changed? Or what his/her problem is? - you know if they are friends worth keeping they will understand, and support what you are doing.

    • Its just common jealousy, do what you love! I mean, youtube is the future, a LOT of people dont know it, we are the pioneers in the years to come :) Do it with heart and ignore the haters.
I got a looooot of negative stuff when after I did almost 400 videos on youtube in my native language I tried to ask my fans for donations to just support me if they can, because it was the hardest times for me in 3 years... just to keep me living and making more awsome videos.. but omg what hell broke loose, lol, even the biggest newspaper wrote about me how bad I am.. that I am asking money from my YOUNG fans to PLAY videogames... no where was mentioned I did almost 400 videos and was the most popular youtuber in my country, still am... you just need to ignore that, you are on the right path! :P But still, I needed a change and I knew I cannot make it big without english videos.. so now I have also started my english channel, because after seeing how much people enjoyed my videos I want the whole world to enjoy them.. but need to make them in english :) Sooo, even though I dont speak english that good, I will still try :) I will give it my all, and to hell with the haters, fact is that you are living for yourself and you should always do what you want, what you love. Times may get hard but there is always light at the end of the tunnel ;)

    • You're not alone.

Dude, it's alright. You're not alone. People are jackasses! Well not all but.....Anyways it's alright, some of my "friends" try to annoy the living crap out of me every time I post a new video. But what I do is just ignore them. I make videos cause it's freakin fun, why should I give a crap about what others say, right? And one day when you get big, they'll shut up and regret everything they've ever said. :D :D :D
So I was changing my name randomly and I can't change it anymore. So I'm Lynotyrus on youtube now.Dick jokes, SCREAMING, all that cool stuff! Also lots of RAGE.

    • I haven't told anybody who I know in real life about my Youtube channel (yet). Partly because I'm a little embarrased but also because I think Youtube is an escape from the real world for me. I speak a completely different language in my video's and rarely talk about my real life.

All I can say is that if your friends give you weird looks, fuck them! Real friends would support you (I know mine would, they often tell me I should start commentating because I'm english. Little do they know.. :P ). If anybody makes a douchy remark just ignore it or say 'so what' or something. Make it look like it doesn't affect you.
If making video's is really what you enjoy doing, don't stop because of them! Just continue and show them you don't care what they say.

You should know how many people watch anime on my school (belgium) I didn't know it was getting hated in the Netherlands. I'm sorry for you.

Anime is the shit in my school (Netherlands)! :)

    • I had similar issues, except my closest mates stayed mates. They were helping me through, backing me up. After a few months of school + the summer holidays, it has mostly blew away but they still like to bring it up when they have the chance. However, none of them know about the new channel, which for me helped a lot to allow me to carry on loving what I do but without the idiots.

But this is how I took the laughing:
      1. I realised that the point of my videos is for them to laugh, so even if they think they are taking the piss out of it by laughing, I get my goal of making people leave my videos with a smile on their faces.
      2. Because they thought it was a stupid idea, I created my new channel so that I can grow a big audience then turn around to them and pretty much say "F*** You B*****s".
      3. If you love what you do, like me, you have to put up with the haters sooner or later.
      4. And lastly, the lucky thing in my case was that the main video they was laughing at, was my most viewed video which had 17k views and earned me £20. 20 reasons that I liked to make them jelous at.

As, I said, luckily my friends backed me up. I know one person who isn't even the greatest of friends with me but when someone called me sad, behind my back, he said "Atleast he is doing more than just sitting there playing games all day with no life"...

    • Well, from reading the post and taking a look at your Youtube channel, I kind of have an idea of why they tease you.

Not a lot of gaming channels make it big out there. Pewdiepie, Markiplier and others are just both pretty lucky and pretty good at what they do. I have a feeling that the reason why they are teasing you is either because they don't understand the new genre or because they think you are copying other people.

All I can say is that you have to step up on your game. Never take what people say as a bad thing but as a guide to how you can improve as a person and as a person who makes his own videos. I honestly have no idea what else to say so I'll leave you at that.
