    • "A spy in our midst? We do not know if it is merely that, the traitor could very well be an assassin. I will go after him. Prince Duncan, I request that you and his majesty seek safety, else you become a victim."
Alden had made to leave the training yard, but had stopped in the shadows despite his intentions, his keen fox ears picking up the conversation between the advisor and prince.

A test of loyalty...? And the prince doubts our ability, too... Wait, something about the roof?

The knight then left before anyone could catch him. It would look suspicious eavesdropping and that would hardly be a way to prove his loyalty.
He'd just have to both keep his eyes skyward in his search, and watch over the royal family as much as he could. There was no telling when the spy/assassin might strike.

    • Outside the throne room, on the rooftops, a very paranoid Alden made his search.
"Where are you, little rat? I know you're up here... Somewhere..."

A movement in the shadows, a hooded figure emerged, looking down from it's vantage point in time to see two people enter the throne room, and of course not noticing the big armored fox-man approaching for whatever reason.
Creeping up behind the figure with all the silence he could manage in armor, Alden grabbed it's shoulder in a tight grip.
      "Time's up, assassin."

The figure wasn't one to go down without a fight, however, and elbowed the knight in the stomach.
While causing no harm whatsoever, the impact of the blow caused Alden to stumble, loosening his grip and allowing the spy to flee.

"You can run, but you won't get far!"
Obviously, Alden gave chase, sprinting across the rooftops at a surprisingly fast pace, considering the fact he wore heavy-looking armor.

    • "Give up, you have nowhere to... Hide?"
As Alden rounded a corner, the spy disappeared from view.
Looking around frantically, the knight spotted the intruder scaling the northern tower.

      "Not a chance!"
Knowing he'd never be able to follow the spy up there, Alden called forth a fireball, his rune marking glowing bright under the bandages where it hid.
Throwing the fireball with all the strengrth he had, it hit the spy right in the back, making the traitor lose it's grip and fall.

      *CRASH!*

Unfortunately (but lucky for the spy), he/she landed directly on the knight, breaking what would have otherwise been a fatal fall.
The two struggled for a few minutes before Alden managed to overpower his foe and bring the enemy down for the count.

In just a few minutes time, the knight makes his way to the throne room and roughly drops the barely conscious intruder in front of the king himself.
"Milord, the intruder is at your mercy."

    • "It shall be done, my lord."
Giving a proper bow, Alden then left for the dungeons.

In a few minute's time, he found himself standing in a dark cell, staring down at the spy, who was tied to a chair and, thankfully, conscious.
"So... I assume you know why you're here..."

"Matriar... Figures that they'd send you to deal with me."
Unexpectedly, the spy's voice seemed female, and carried an odd accent. One that was far too familiar to Alden.
      "Ah, you know of me."

"'Course I know of you! But you don't know me?!"
"And how am I supposed to recognize you with a hood hiding your face?! Who are you, exactly?"
Losing his temper, the knight pulled the spy's hood away from her face.

And quickly found himself in shock. The spy was a beastfolk like him, a wolf, to be more specific.
"W-what is the meaning of this?! The wolf tribes never had a reason to betray the kingdom!""
      "You don't know?"
"Know what?! Why you betrayed the alliance?! Start explaining!"

The wolf let a sigh escape her.
"You ignorant fool. Our people are being taken as slaves by your precious kingdom. Weren't expecting that, were you?"
      "Impossible! His majesty wouldn't-"
"Then where are our people disappearing to, then?! Every week, we lose more of our number. The other tribes are suffering as well, it's only a matter of time before they join us."

"And they'd be idiots for doing so!"
      Alden shouted.

"What are we to do, then? Stand idly by until none of us are left?! Have you no loyalty to your kind?! If you let me free, we could-"
"I WILL NOT BETRAY THE KINGDOM! IF I HAVE TO FACE MY KIND IN BATTLE, THEN SO BE IT!"

The knight stormed out in a rage.
This is not good... The beastfolk tribes are few, but if they ally against us, it could spell disaster for the kingdom... I must warn the king, something must be done.

Arriving at the throne room, Alden knelt before the king.
"I bring grave news. The intruder is from the wolven tribes of the eastern forest. I fear that they have turned against us. If what I've heard is true, they and other beastfolk tribes are being attacked on a weekly basis by those claiming to be with the kingdom. If nothing is done, it may just be a matter of time before the other tribes betray us."

    • -i turn to the king and use a language meant for the royal family, to be used to discuss private matters in public, but keeping my voice low-
This is terrible. If the beastfolk attack, we would need troops to deal with them, which would leave our northern border open to invasion and our trade ships open to raids.
This must be dealt with quickly, Your Highness.
    • "I see,, For one point, we never send any troops to attack the tribes"
"Do you think Mr. Adviser? Could we do a negotiation with the beastfolk, i'm going to negotiate with them, if it's needed. Proving that we never send any troops"
