    • Takistan Life - Custom Mission from Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead

      What is Takistan Life?
As mentioned in the title, Takistan Life is a mission, which means player doesn't have to download any files ("mod" files) to play the game. The mission will download automaticly while joining the server.
Takistan Life: Revolution is sister mission to Takistan Life.

What is the aim of this mission?
There are four main sides to the region of Takistan. They consist of the BluFor, OpFor, Independent, and Civilian groups. Each side is usually limited to a certain amount of players (example, BluFor usually allows up to 16 players at once). There is conflict happening between these groups as this is a corrupt region. At the beginning of the game, the player is invited to choose between one of these four sides.

      Civilians (Civilian/Terroist)

Civilians are the citizens of Takistan. They can acquire licenses to obtain vehicles, items, and firearms. Some misbehave and law enforcement is needed. They are referred to as "Rogue terrorists" due to the fact many rebel and are hard to distinguish as a terrorist because Takistan Life rules dictate the rules of engagement for Independents, BluFor, and OpFor sides to engage civilians. A civilian may also purchase a PMC (Private Military Company) journeyman license to then work alongside BluFor.

      BluFor (Police)
BluFor, more commonly known as "the police", is the law enforcement branch of the game. They have higher tech equipment and do not require licensing to possess weapons or armored vechicles. This special group of soldiers may search, restrain, arrest, set/remove warrants, and ticket any civilians who have commited crimes.

      OpFor (Terrorists)
The OpFor team is also known as the terrorist team (not to be confused with the insurgent team). They wear military soldier uniforms with helmets and other attire. They use ugly yet powerful equipment that rivals the BluFor side. These guys were strictly made to kill the cops and can be a difficult force to go against. Cops WILL absolutely kill you on sight given they know what a terrorist looks like. (On Some servers OpFor are more a mercenary army who is supposed to help Blufor, so always read the rules when you enter a server).

      Independent (Insurgents)
Independents are parallel to Terrorists (OpFor) with some differences. They use similar equipment to the OpFor. Independents are usually killed on sight by the cops given that the cop identifies the player as an insurgent. The independents wear civilian styled clothing with turbans and bandanas (for most servers). The independents are similar to civilians but dont require some of the licenses as civilians.

      Your first steps
It is recommended to start off on a civilian character for multiple reasons. First is that there is a supposed universal rule that you are to not shoot and kill unarmed civilians, so your life should last longer, and second there are a variety of more missions that you can complete to earn money. Each person also playing a civilian can choose their own path. If someone just wants to run people around like a taxi cab, that is within their right. If another person wants to find a weapon and take revenge on someone, they can. If someone wants to blow themselves up in front of a bakery as some anti yeast statement, then by god they can. But each civilian starts unarmed, and unthreatening, and as one you shouldn’t be shot nearly as much as an armed soldier.

Money and licenses make the game
The first thing to learn is the location of an ATM, usually marked as green squares on the map. This is important to know as ATMs are where a person can access their bank accounts and retrieve money, along with storing it. On almost every server you will play on, there will be an ATM right next to where you spawn as any faction. Some factions have a person representing an ATM, but for civilians it usually is a laptop. Once you locate the ATM, the next step is to withdraw money.

It is advisable not to withdraw all your money immediately, in fact some players prefer to check the prices of certain items before withdrawing anything just to have the right amount for what they need. The first purchase you will want to make is a Driver’s license, which can be bought from a vendor across from the spawn. Using your middle mouse scroll wheel, scroll down until you see the option for a driver’s license, and then click on it. The most common cost of a driver’s license I have found is $5000, so make sure that amount is in your inventory when you buy it. If not, it will just put the message “not enough funds” in the lower left text of the game.

If for some reason, you are having trouble finding and buying the license, press the map key, and look for any text on the map that say license and passports. At these locations passport and licenses for various vehicles can be obtained.

Buying your first car and moving around
Once you have a driver’s license, you are ready to make more money doing various tasks throughout the game buy purchasing a vehicle of some sort. By clicking the map again, you can find where the various car dealers are throughout the map, and as a civilian there are a few that are located around the spawn.

To enter your car you must first unlock it. Some servers use the L key as an unlock button, but also left Control+Space bar functions to lock and unlock the car. In the text you will be able to see when a car is locked or unlocked, and whether or not you have the keys for said car. A locked car prevents unwanted passengers and grand theft auto, but also prevents a quick escape if your car comes under damage, but an unlocked car means anyone may take the car. Always leave the car locked if you want to use it after you get out. You also may stock some of your belongings.

      It is risky out there
An important thing to consider before heading out is the amount of risk you want to take with making money. Some things are relatively safe, like doing taxi cab missions, while other things can get you shot after wasting many hours, like hunting. If you are new to the game, and have no idea what it is you want to do. I recommend doing taxi cab missions. The reason I recommend these is that they are simple pick up and deliver missions that allow you to travel around the map and get a feel for the lay of the land and how vehicles operate.

After you have obtained a taxi driver mission, check your map and look for the yellow wording that usually reads pick up passenger here. You now must drive to that location, pick up the passenger by waiting for a few seconds close to them with your car, and once they are in the car repeating this process in taking the passenger where it needs to go.

      Keeping money
As you begin to make some money, it would be a good time to consider purchasing what is called “Bank Insurance”.
Bank insurance serves one purpose, and that is to safeguard the money you have in your bank account for when the bank is eventually robbed. Depending on which faction you play, the nearest place to purchase bank insurance to your spawn is the best place to purchase bank insurance. This is because it is usually only in your spawn that you have access to what is called private storage.

There are of course many other things to tell about this custom mission but it would take too much time to describe everything. Here is a quick introduction that shows you a few things you can do.
