Youtube Partnership and Third Party Content

    • Okay, I looked up everything I could about it.

I disputed it, detailing that the video falls under fair use. (that is one of the options they let you choose from).

It's an automated system that will apply the Content ID claim regardless of partnership rights or anything else.

So, dispute it if you think you're right. that's the only way it'll get taken off. I'll report back once it clears so say how it went.

    • I used to get 3rd party claims a lot.. some times I could understand them (like using footage from a game trailer for example for a preview) and other times you get them from companies that clearly can't own the video. Generally you can argue fair use under most of them and you have about a 50/50 chance of the claim being released... Nintendo, Square Enix and Fox never released third party claims in my experience.

Since being partnered I've not had the trouble, probably due to being able to claim videos, but i didn't have to delete or edit my existing videos that had third party strikes. I also managed to argue a copyright strike sucessfully against Toei when they gave me one.

to help though with when i think i might be making a video succeptable to third party strikes I use custom boarders and zoom the video a little to avoid the content match.. but for games that's not really an issue,.. its really only use for when i cover films that are in the cinema with limited public footage available for use.. sorry if that's confusing
