Why did you start video production?

The forums have been archived. Please read this thread for more information.

    • I was a game journalist first before going into video production. Essentially what started my passion for making content was from a contest CD Projekt Red created. For the Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings Xbox 360 release, they were looking for 1000 reviewers to do a video review of the game. The lucky winners would be given a week before release plus have their review highlighted on the website and finally be given a special thank you letter written on parchment.

I already had the game on PC and tried my luck, I got in. Still think my luck came from my having worked with two gaming sites but you never know. I did the video and ever since then been making content on my channel. Recently however I have been live streaming, gaining access to exclusive alphas/betas, access to games for free if I do video coverage, and more. While I don't see a plausible career out of this, I do however see a way of informing gamers willing to listen of potential games they might of missed or games to avoid.

While getting funny videos of a gamer who has no skill in gaming.
    • It's a mixture of everything I suppose.
I watched this hilarious video of Amnesia (it's still up on youtube but not under it's original owner).
My friends of other forums would invite me to their skype calls whilst playing Amnesia and you know, it made me feel like I wanted no.. had to play Amnesia as well.
So I downloaded it and my friends kept asking for how I reacted on it so... solution: youtube (that idea came after I got to know PewDiePie).
    • I had been watching Let's Players and the like ever since I was a kid. Since I'm rather introverted I had preferred to stay in and watch anime or play games. When I had trouble sleeping, I found a let's player named OTG or Overthegun. I watched his vids all the time because it was fun having that sort of "company" while watching a game. Found PewDiePie, Cryaotic, and the Game Grumps more recently and just enjoy watching their videos while I eat lunch at work or when I have down time.
I sort of want to give the same feeling of comfort, so to speak, I had gained from these dudes. If I make people laugh or just have a good time with me in my videos, that'll put a smile on my face.
