I suggest you to customize your rendering options. For example, smoothness should be at 100 and if you want better sound quality, you should change audio attributes to 320 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo (A/V) CBR. But of course better sound quality will result on longer rendering.

The very difference isn't maybe that great, but still noticeable.

I've read on YouTube that is has to do with the resolution, there are different resolutions you record at to gain a certain amount of quality on the videos. From YouTube:

"YouTube uses 16:9 aspect ratio players. If you are uploading a non-16:9 file, it will be processed and displayed correctly as well, with pillar boxes (black bars on the left and right) or letter boxes (black bars at the top and bottom) provided by the player. If you want to fit the player perfectly, encode at these resolutions:

1080p: 1920x1080
720p: 1280x720
480p: 854x480
360p: 640x360
240p: 426x240"

I really hate the internet here.. tried to upload 1080p and estimated time was 8-9 hours... /hangs head

There are several ways to get around both rendering and upload times if you have a slower connection. I use Premiere Pro to edit and render my videos, in combination with Cheat Engine to then focus all my memory on rendering, which cuts down the time considerably. Then you can use a program like Handbrake to shrink the size without reducing the quality for faster uploading!

If you are beginner at editing, I suggest Camtasia studio for an Editor. When you start editing a project, it will ask you in what resolution you want your video to be. You can also record with it but, personally I prefer Fraps and never tried Camtasia for recording. Fraps can run on system tray only, if the option is checked, so you got a little increased performance here.
Also it is really easy to ''deal'' with 1080p video, you can listen to the tips in the video, but if it doesn't work. Try to make 10 -15 minutes videos. Also smaller video are more popular for one reason, it's not all users that can spare 1h or 30 minutes to listen to your videos, so I suggest more uploads but 10 - 15 mins each.

If you use Adobe Premiere CS6 it comes with incredibly handy youtube presets for 1080p, and 720p. Made my life a lot easier.

I agree, I upload all of my videos at 1080p and it takes around the same time depending on the length or the actual game. Graphic intensive games take longer where as older games don't hardly take any time at all.

After seeing this, I don't feel so bad. I uploaded a 1GB video the other day and it took 2 hours. Then again, I did 2 hours of editing and after-effects animation, plus 20 mins of rendering before that. So it still took a while.
