  • "I know, I can feel the hairs standing on the back of my neck. Anyone with demon blood apparently won't have an easy time here. It would probably be a walk in the park for anyone untainted. Stay close and keep your eyes peeled."
Ignoring the incredibly bad feeling the place was giving him, Tristam marched on, his footsteps echoing in the cavern, no matter how silent he tried to be.

Eventually, the dark halls opened up into a large (and thankfully illuminated) area, a deep pool was seen in the middle of said area.
"Hey, you think anything lives in that?"

You know, most people call me insane...
That's what happens when I try to reason with people, they don't like it, and I eventually end up turning them to charcoal in the end...

Why are you looking at me like that?

Despite popular belief, I did not draw the avatar I'm using. I can't draw.
  • S: goes up close to it and examines it, looking for anything.
"I can't see anything. But I can surely-"
A blast of water knocks her down and a figure emerges from the water, serpentine with a clear body, flowing like water.

????: "who would disturb the rest of Excalibur?"
It was not an order, but a simple question.

S: knocked out from the force of the impact.

It was not an order, but a simple question, given in a lilting voice that reminded anyone hearing it of water droplets landing on a still surface.

  • There was a sharp intake of breath from Tristam as the Lamia was knocked down.
    "Sahrah!"
He rushed over, trying to determine if she was fine, Which she was, apart from being unconscious.

Not completely relieved, the half-demon stood, facing the watery being.
Could this be the lady of the lake...?

"I am Kor Tristam, and you just hurt a friend of mine. What name are you known by, and what do you have to say for yourself?"

  • u: i am Undine, the lady of the lake who gave excalibur to Arthur.
i am its guardian, and you two interrupted our slumber.
i apologize if she is harmed. normally, my appearance is not that violent.
    -she looks at Tristam-
as i have answered your question, pray answer mine.
    why are you here?
    why do you seek excalibur?
-from her gaze, you can tell that lying is futile-
  • OOC: I'm going to go out on a limb and say Undine looks like this.

"'Our" slumber? What the hell does that- You know what, never mind."

Polite, you idiot! It's Undine for god's sake! Show some respect!

Remembering manners, Tristam took a short, polite bow before Undine.
"I am here seeking the holy blade, as you may know. My reason... I may not have the most... Pure... Bloodline, but I merely wish to know if I am worthy to wield it. I must apologize, though, as I will not leave without the blade, or good reason."

  • *at Akuji's classroom*
Akuji: *nod* So...long story short...you hate each other.
    Lilith: Yes.
Belial: *whine* What? No...hate is such a strong word...I just don't think she's amusing enough...is all
Akuji: Well then Lilith probably finds you quite annoying.
    Lilith: Yes.
Belial: *whine* What? No...I would never...
Akuji: *look at his watch* Look you two, I have places to be so I'll tell you what... Lilith, you will proceed with everything you are obligated to do and won't have to worry about what he's doing.
    Lilith: Sounds good to me.
Akuji: And Belial...you do whatever you want, but instead of her being responsible for you, you will be responsible for yourself. That means no funny demonic business allowed around here. Since you're trouble maker, know that if I get any kind of complaint, there will be consequences.
Belial: *salute* You got it boss.
Akuji: However, when I call you both up to cooperate you will do so with no questions asked. Made myself clear?
*both Lilith and Belial nodded as Akuji went out through the wall. Right after, they went each separate ways*

Ooc: And no, Tristam and Sahrah won't get out of the forest that easy...mwaha...mwahahaha

Ic: *meanwhile, a pack of gigantic creatures traced smell of lamia and semi-demon deep into the forest. After the two disappeared under the waterfall, creatures pulled back not willing to follow. They knew that ,whatever is underneath it, is too strong for them to handle. They set up an ambush. Their unmistakable instinct told them that they're ought to come out sooner or later, and they were patient. It was a while now that they managed to find something to eat besides deer and small animals*
On the outside I may appear like an emotionless sarcastic piece of shit, but just like an onion, when you peel off more layers, you find the exact same thing every single time and you start crying.

If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off!
  • U: "that much i could have figured on my own.
What i wish to know is why you seek excalibur in the first place. None simply go to such a holy blade simply to see if it will accept them. If they did, it would reject them.
You must know this, so tell me.
Why do you desire excalibur? What do you hope to accomplish with its power?"
  • That... Is a good question... Now, how do I say this without sounding like a power hungry idiot?

"With Excalibur's power, I can become the greatest swordsman to ever live, a lifelong dream of mine. On the other hand, I face discrimination almost constantly, for reasons you can surely guess. If I, the one with demon blood, bring back the holy sword Excalibur of all things, what sort of image do you think that would create?"

  • "You think I haven't tried? Nobody wants help from someone like me, a spawn of evil!"
Tristam clenched his fists, remembering the numerous times he had tried to play the hero, only to fail.
"There's only so much I can do with my power alone."

  • The half-demon froze for a second. He hadn't thought about that.
"Clearing my name would only be the start. I'll not lie, not all of my kind are very pleasant. Others, like me, are hated because some give in to their demonic nature. I'd do everything in my power to prevent the innocent from suffering."

Wow, I sound like a goody two shoes when I say it like that... Where's my heroic cape?

  • U: "your cape is at the dry cleaner's. Yes, i can read minds, all spirits can."
    She chuckles to herself.
"However, i see that you truly mean what you say, so, as the Lady of the Lake, i shall grant you the holy blade, Excalibur."
Her body shifts and changes, turning into something like this:

"Now, at the bottom of this lake lies Excalibur. If you can retrieve it, it is yours."
  • After the initial shock had passed from getting his mind read, Tristam couldn't help but smile. At least Undine had a sense of humor.

    "Many thanks, lady Undine."
Setting aside his sword, the half-demon dived into the water without a second thought.

However, that second thought came right as he was underwater.

    I... can't swim.

And so, seconds later, he had resurfaced, gasping for air, flailing indiscriminately, and somehow scrambling back to shore.

    "I have a little problem... I can't swim."
    Tristam said, smiling sheepishly.

  • "I am in your debt, thanks again."

While Tristam was, shall we say, cautious about jumping back into the water after nearly drowning himself last time, he did manage to force himself into diving back in.

This time, however, he was confident he wouldn't drown due to his lack of knowledge on how to swim, or from his own sword weighing him down.

It didn't take long for Tristam to notice the faint golden glow at the bottom in his descent.
That must be Excalibur... Just a little further, now...

  • All of a sudden, voices sound from the water, and Tristam can see what appears to be a reflection of himself looking at him through the water. If he looked at Excalibur, he would notice that it got no closer, and neither would the surface.
DT: "you think you deserve Excalibur? Hah! Look at you! You'll never be anything but a demon to them! They'll always hate you!"
  • I don't have time to waste on these stupid illusions. Go away.

Was the thought running through the real Tristam's head as he continued, or at least tried, to descend.
He knew that his time was limited, he didn't have enough of it to start arguing with fake versions of himself, even if he could talk underwater.
