You neg-rep me but I go to your channel and the keyword "Giveaway" in both videos happen to be the ones clocking 300+ views while everything else doesn't. So yeah, I'm pretty sure they know about the giveaways and I still don't recommend it as a way of growing a channel,

I think he understands this. There will be people who will sub for just freebies, but there will also be a percentage of people who will stay and watch long term. 10 subs with 1-2 of them real.. might still be worth it.

It is mostly a vehicle to get noticed and to get your name out there. As a small channel, you either gotta whore A LOT, have exceptionally great content, doing it for years and accumulating slowly, or be very lucky to be "successful".

I am actually making a giveaway system that encourage repeat visits and meaningful input. =p.
  • Well, Don't forget that the video in the trailer stand will always get alot of views, and also the other video that got alot of views was the montage, thats right that the key word is giveaway, to the things I see, I have right now 40 people in the giveaway, and 321 subs, there is a huge gap between the numbers that you refuse to see, and even after the giveaway, my subs number will just keep going up, regardless that I do a giveaway or not.
Edit: I started the giveaway when I reched 110, So where the other 60 subs (when I had 50) came if there was no giveaway?

The percentage of the people who are actually keep watching is so small that it wouldn't be beneficial at all as the costs are higher than the earnings and I wouldn't call it an investment as you are only spending money which you won't see back if you keep on doing giveaways (unless you are such a cheapskate and giveaway seperate games from indie bundles and if you do so, Iwill lose all my respect for that person) . It only gets your e-peen larger (subscriber base), but you won't have the views to back it up.

Quality subscribers are gained by producing quality content and being active, social media is a friend so make use of it also. Keep in touch with your fanbase and host stuff to do with them to keep them happy. The more happy people you have , the more they are going to be like " have you watched X? No? Go watch him!" and such which may result in a chain reaction if you are lucky, but atleast its the basics for channel growth.

Giveaways should be only done when reaching a big milestone and don't be a cheapskate like the method said above. Why shouldn't you do it frequently? Well, isn't it obvious? People love to get stuff for free, so they will almost always sub to your channel only to enter your giveaways on your channel and be a parasite. You won't gain anything from those people, only false bragging rights.

Nowadays views mean nothing aswell and it will not list your channel/videos higher on the rankings as the algorhythm has changed some time ago, it now makes a calculation using the the total viewing minutes, the percentage of what people watch and total views and not sole on views alone. I could go on for days on how this is really bad to make yourself known. Buying yourself in doesn't make you special at all.

  • I gave a Like to the comment because you took your time and didn't spare words, but just answer me this, The giveaway started in 110 subs, from 50 to 110 in almost 4 days, no one knew about the giveaway, Where did the 60 subs came from.
and also, my watch time is going crazy, everone watches, and as I said before there is a huge gap between the people who registerd to the giveaway, and the amount of subs that I have, In the video it self I have way more likes then the number of people in the giveaway, so let's leave that behind, ofc not ever sub is going to watch my videos, but not ever video I just upload I expect to get 100 views right away, It takes up to 3 days to get the amount of views of people that follow your videos on daily basis.
Now, just a little thing I wanted to ask, Since I started a giveaway, I saw some more people that made a giveaway contest, in a week they got only 4 subs, and I'am in a week got who knows many subs, so you know, I beilve that my subs count will still grow after the giveaway, and the giveaway its self just cost me 10$, and about the money thing, I have work, I work really hard, but really hard, so I can do whatever I want with my own money.
Edit: I notice that the only feedback on the forum is negetive and not positive,(not include in the start, with the link, was pretty annoying, and your comment is just info), never someone said to me here, nice channel, or other thing, the only comment I get is , you grew in few weeks, but never, anyone said, congrats on 100 subs, or congrats at all, I'am seriously considering closing my account, (regardless to your reaply), I write this just so you can take a not, keep your head up and say, his right, I never said congrats.
