    • Mermaid Swamp - From the maker of The Crooked Man

Greetings, bros. I am Euzeth Gozzo, and today I come to give you yet another free horror game made in Wolf RPG Editor.

      It's title is...

      It's story is as follows:

A girl named Rin Yamazaki is on a trip with her three friends Yuka, Yuuta and Seitaro. During the trip, however, their car breaks down in the middle of the mountains, leaving them stranded there. A kind old man lets them stay at his house until they can get the vehicle fixed.

But the man goes on a trip of his own, and then strange things start happening in the place. Things that may be connected to the legend about the swamp that lies outside of the house...

The game has been translated by vgperson, who also translated Ib, The Witch's House and a lot of other games Pewdie has played. You can download it here

      Some screenshots from the game:

Remember, Pewdie: When you're surprised by a jumpscare... THAT WAS ME AS WELL!
    • This is a great game! I played it through twice!

It comes highly recommended. Lots of tension and I won't say anything else!

      Display Spoiler
I got the everyone dies ending first, because I didn't want to cheat. The second time, I cheated so hard I'm surprised the game didn't kick me off in disgust, but I did get the 'Everyone Lives ending', so it was worth it.
    • I've played it some weeks ago, one or two, don't remember. Anyway, here's a little review:

Graphis: You already know that you can't expect much from a rpg maker game, but I have seen better maps around. MS looks a lot like Paranoic, while the other places are just as simple as the Crooked Man. I think he could've made a better mapping, but it's solid and works. Just don't go expecting much.

Sound: Not much here, actually it doesn’t have any sound at all. Just some sound effects for the scenes, nothing much. Besides, there’s no piano music like in the Crooked Man. I'm not complaining because some music playing just won’t work with a lot of the situations, since all they do is talking. But still, has the "tension" moments with loud music.

Gameplay: A lot less action than the previous ones, and I mean a lot. It's more about exploring the scenario and finding clues. The puzzles are ok, nothing too boring like the hospital at the Crooked Man (well, at least for me), but I was expecting something a litte more challenging from MS, too bad. I think I finished it in about 2 or 3 hours.
And about the jumpscares... It doesn’t have any. It's more like a "what the fuck was that thing that just passed?" than a "baam!! surprise motherfucker". Well, I wasn’t scared, but who knows.

Story: Well, I don't think I should say it, but anyway, you all probably already guessed. Depending on your choices, the story will lead you to a different ending. That's cool and all. But I didn’t like any of them, just one I guess, the Good one, haha. But, at least for me, I would say that I liked Crooked Man's story a lot more. However, MS has the mystery effect going on, so you'll probably be willing to go until the end just to see what's going on there. Overall, I would say it's a good story, but I liked Crooked Man more. (Of course, I'm only referring to Uri's works here).

Conclusion: I recommend the game. It's simple, but well made. Of course, nothing astonishing, but it's good anyway. Time passes on while you are playing it.

PS: You all will have to forgive me for my bad english. If you find any errors (you will), just skip them. Haha.
PPS: I love RPG Maker Games, recently I started making one, an Horror/Drama game. Of course, it'll take more than just some weeks... I think I'll finish it in 2 or 3 months. I know that rpg maker games are a little saturated. But maybe you guyz can check it out when comes out.
I'll call it "Scarlet Dreams". Yes, it'll be in english (I'm doing my best). It's my first post here, and this is the first time I'm talking about this game. I'll post it on the RPG Maker community once it goes out (will take a while).

      Peace Bros.

    • Mermaid Swamp was a good game. Creepy and disturbing but not as scary as the other games in my opinion. The story is interesting and has a little twist I would say but the main character is really hm.. peculiar hahah (okay others would say annoying. let's be honest.)
Less action, puzzles can be solved pretty much quickly and the only thing that bothered me a bit was the fact that I had to directly go to the inventory to use things on other things (but thats nothing haha.)

The game in a whole was not as intriguing as Crooked Man, CM is definitely the best from Uri but I think the story is making it worth a try.

      Keep calm and make tea.
    • Just in my opinion The Crooked Man was the best, when I've seen your let's play Pewds I played Paranoiac and Mermaid Swamp by myself. It's not that good as The Crooked Man. Why? I think that The Crooked Man was guided by some notion. These are just a histories of someone, plot is maybe some kind of interesting, but not as good as Crooked Man's. Sory for my english :P
