Go with what the person said, to ask for the autograph by mail, and provide a self-addressed stamped envalope for him to return back to your home address. ALSO, PLEASE STATE THE ADDRESS IN THE LETTER FOR THE SIGNED AUTOGRAPH TO BE RETURNED TO! Please don't make that mistake. I haven't, because I don't send snail mail that often.
