    I guess you could go higher, the 5770 with the i5 would be for a budget of 750-1000 dollars depending on other components you get with it. But they arent that out dated, they can run games like Starcraft 2 and Battlefield 3 at a very high and stable framerate, and will also have no bottlenecking effect.

    EDIT: Your case is your own preference. Carbide 400r is a good case and one of my favorites. I think you can add SSD for this.:) Did I forget something? You can also add a WDC Green 1TB SATA III if you want. it's $100 I think.

    You do state some good hardware here, due to me not knowing what the general stores one should buy from in the US I can't really check the prices on hardware which probably differs a bit compared to Sweden.

    But if I would comment the parts you've stated:

    I5-2500K or I7 2600K is what i believe one should definitely go for.

    I think that you should look for a different graphics card than the one stated, maybe a 7950. But don't rule out the used market because you can make a really great bargain on some new components where the owner might have changed his/her mind and have not used the part for a particular long time.

    Motherboard should be fine, just make sure that it support all the features you might need in the future, SLI/crossfire etc.

    Ram is fine.

    I don't know anything about the powersupply, just make sure it's from a known manufacturer with good ratings and such.

    The CPU cooler is fine, built a system for a friend with the same and it won't be in the way for RAM or anything.

    The SSD is to small to support both OS and games, it's really easy to fill those GB if one is not carefull with how to organize your stuff on different hard drives. Atleast that's my own opinion.

    Lastly I would use either WD Caviar Green or the Black version, 1TB.

    I think there might be some room for different configurations but I would like to know which site you are going to buy from so I can see what they have in stock and the prices.

    Edit: Chassie is personal but be sure to get one with good airflow, ability to watercool if that's something that will happen in the future.

    Wait, isn't this for laptop? 8| Get 2600K and a Z68 mobo.:) Seriously, you will not be disappointed.

    @Sloghunt:

    He should buy a 1TB WDC Green and 500GB WDC Blue. Black isn't necessary. 60GB SSD is fine. Put your OS, and some software like Vegas pro there and put the rendered vids to your 1TB WDC Green.

    And the powersupply is pretty good. 5yrs warranty and it's modular.:D 7870 is fine I think. or he should wait for 660 ti.

    2. Personally id use a noctua aircooler (main reason is reliability)
    3. Id suggest Corsair cl9 1600Mhz Vengeance LP (simply coz i own a pair myself and they work great)

    2. i have the Noctua NH U12P and it preforms awesomely (max 70c when rendering, 100% usage on all 8 cores for 10 min+)
