    • Quality issues with multiplayer vieo game session over Skype!

Hey all! I'm looking for some advice regarding a multiplayer game series I tried to start last night that didn't go so well.

We were playing Minecraft and using Skype to record our commentary. Problem is the quality was pretty lousy, Echoes, cutting in and out, all that good stuff.

I would have preferred to record the skype call on a separate layer, but I couldn't find a way to get Fraps to only record the in game audio.

Does anyone know the best way to pull this off? I know PBG's Minecraft Hardcore series has some excellent sound quality that I would like to strive for, but as this was my first time trying.... I think I've got some learning to do.
    • I would try splicing it with Audacity. You can mute your sounds on Fraps, you would just have to find some way to sync it with Audacity so it's in sync with the video. Now when you're talking about quality with the Skype call, are you saying it's bad while you are playing? Or only after the recording is done?
    • The Fraps Mic button is unchecked, but it is still picking up the Skype call in bad quality.

During the recording, there is no issue with the sound. everyone sounds great! Im using a program called call graph to record the call, and it sounds great on there, but the call is also on fraps and sounds lousy.

Audacity is picking up the in game sound, which I don't want it to do.

All our Mic's are good quality. I'm personally using a Blue Snowball.

---I think I found a resolution. There's a program called Virtual Audio Cable that allows you to virtually layer different audio sources. I assigned Skype to one audio layer, and kept everything else to default. This way I was able to record the Skype call through Audacity or Call Graph, and have fraps record only the in game sound, then adjust accordingly in editing!

If anyone has experienced similar issues, I hope this may help!
