YouTube Custom Thumbnails

  • I activated my ad-sense earlier today, I just didn't monetize any of my videos nor allow ads to be played in my videos. This means you can add custom thumbnails without ACTUALLY monetizing any of the videos. The only way to get thumbnails is to activate ad-sense, so it's a worthwhile risk.

Hi. I appreciate the reply first of all, what exactly is monetizing? And do I need parental approval to get this adsense thing?
  • Monetization is something new channels I don't think should use.
It pretty much gets in the way of what viewers you have. Instead of point and click to watch your video, they have to point a click and then skip advertisement or close one that pops up in your videos. Its mainly you agreeing to pick spots in your video's for advertisement purposes, and if by chance someone clicks the ad, then you get so much money per click, which isn't a whole lot. a few cents at most.

Although I wouldn't recommend it, I would still advise you to enable your account to use it. then once approved, you can disable it still being able to use custom thumbnails, although I didn't think adsense or monetization had anything to do with thumbnails..

I uploaded a few videos.. Pretty much showed YouTube I was an active uploader and within a few videos posted, I was able to use custom thumbnails.
