  • Can't connect to Internet.

Hello, I just recently got my computer back after sending it to school to get a program put on it by a teacher. He had to hook it up to the school network and I thought that was fine. It's running Windows 7 64-bit and I use a USB connector thing to connect to my Internet.. It says I am connected but will not let me browse the Internet, log in to steam, etc. please help!
  • There are multiple ways that your Internet configuration could be off..
If you open you Internet Explorer(whether it's connected or not) and open the "tools" tab on the top-right corner of the window, first make sure your "Work Offline" Mode is not selected. If the "Work Offline" mode is not selected then there will be a red 'X' covering the simble. Go to "Internet Options" and then select the "Connection" tab.
Select "setup" and follow prompts for results. If it doesn't work, then look up on Youtube, i think it's your best option then..
  • I'm assuming you're using a laptop, and that you have wifi. (doesn't really matter though)

First off, make sure your wifi is on.

Next, go into Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center

Hit the Connect to a network.

    Connect it.

If that doesn't work, try going to the:

Set up a new connection or network.

Make sure your network is trusted, and your firewall or anti-virus isn't blocking any web browsers.

If that doesn't work, post a screenshot of your Network and Sharing Center,

Tell me your specs, and I'll see what I can do.
    Haters.
  • If you use the windows restore feature you could olso try to load a restore point from before you gave your computer to the school.
However I can't remember if that would olso remove the program the teacher installed, so you better check on that before you use it.
Sorry I can't be of more help.:( Hope you get things sorted out soon, good luck mate.
Just waiting for the zombie apocalypse.

    Wanna check out my channel?
  • I'm almost sure it's the DNS' fault.
Try going into your network settings -> Find your network adapter (just look) -> Go to its properties -> Go into the properties on IPV4 and IPV6. If there's any weird numbers there or if it's not set at "Find IP automatically" you can try adding Google's own DNS server.

In the bottom of IPV4 at the following DNS (don't confuse with IP):
    YouTube channel: youtube.com/twonords
    Skype: twonords
Steam: TwoNords | Freddy or freddynord
