Naming Characters

Do any of you have any resources for picking names?

I'm mostly thinking of names that are not your own nationality. For example, I'm looking for a couple japanese names and have no idea how to go about picking something believable. I wouldn't want to pick the "Bob Smith" of Japan, nor the most ridiculous name no one would name their child.

Well if I want to make some kind of Japanese name I look up the romanji meaning and piece them together, as for fantasy names I use some kind of generator, because i suck in picking names for characters.

You could try checking out these sites 1 2 3.
Thats how I named my doggy. I own a dalmatian and she doesn't have a lot of spots, so I named her Yuki, which means snow in japanese.

Other then that sorry, can't help you, I'm horrible at naming things.

That's just for surnames though.

Thanks for the replies, I also found a list for "100 most common" names and surnames which is a pretty good indicator to the popularity and "normality" of a name. In combination with what you both linked, I think I got something I like
